Yeah, I worked in a library. They use to accept some donations for the collection, but it has become too complicated to do that in modern requirements. I would suggest requesting books if you want them in your library, especially new ones & true classics. Also check out the type of books you want.

This happened so much with everything that it deeply affected the culture the people who use TikTok grew up in. It degraded into grade school bullying, feuds, trolling & any valid criticism got lost, so did the fun of discovery & connecting links in history, which is how I learn to love classics.

The same was true about television, music, animation, comics, books, art, sci-fi,fantasy, comedy, politics, history, food, games, anything you could think of. There was this clash of older fans/nerds/historians & younger fans being told their love of stuff was bad, bullying.

They complained so much, some valid criticism, but it was mostly people yelling at clouds while younger film fans who just came in because we loved this film or that film so much were deeply impressionable. Some joined their sides, others were all about the new stuff. Some were Criterion devotees.

Back in the old days of the Internet, oh gosh, I sound so old, but back then, there were a lot of film fans who were like this, but they were older and many of them were talking about any film after the mid 60s while others were talking about any film before the mid 60s.

Libraries will resell them for a buck or two, not add them to the collection. I would suggest donating them to local lgbtq+ youth centers if there are any around you. They might lend them out or let kids read them on site. Some college groups maintain private libraries for members too.
