Unfortunately Richard Bartop passed away few months ago. One of my personal fav furry fandom comic book artists since my youth.

He's a new-to-me suit I recently adopted. I haven't let him out yet. Maybe just for local/cosplay stuff.
He's from a videogame series, played by four actors across seven different games. The voice I picked out Saturday clicked but I forgot it. Sunday I listened to another game, that fit better.

I start from character look; who is staring back in a mirror? Voice adds to char’s expression and personality, reinforces char headspace & gives courage: “not me” or “me but better”

I remember the sources, I just needed to mix them in the right amounts.
I’ve got a body of work to draw from, four voice actors across several games. The next day I listened to another game and went with THAT one instead.
Now gotta remember how THAT voice went. Maybe boil down to one key phrase.

Waji’s a workout! I had to find the right vocal gruff that wouldn’t wreck my throat. I started with Marge Simpson’s sisters Patty/Selma:
“There goes the last lingering shred of my heterosexuality”

by the end of an outing she would sound like Krusty:
“talk to the audience? Ugh this is always death”

I spent a few hours speaking in a new character voice, but after getting out of suit I can’t remember the voice it evolved into.

Not the first time, I’ve probably invented Champ’s speaking voice 3-4 times.

I gotta remember to record these voices, or they disappear like a sandcastle at high tide

Croc and I run in different circles at cons and events and… other events. So not surprising?

We’ll figure it out as we interact. It depends on what you want/prefer to be seen as in your current form, and how/why are they interacting with you.

Sure I’d prefer if someone said “hey critter you’re cute” rather than “I love your suit” but I’m not gonna scold them.

It was dang hard at FC, Yippee stayed silent, as much as people wanted to talk to human me. My other chars speak in/out of character.

I started working in comic retail when I was 19 years old, so that's 36 years of selling comics; had my first short story published by Antarctic Press in Wild Life #3 in 1993, so that's 33 years as a writer/editor/publisher. Tho, not publishing as much lately; I'm back to my selling roots.

FC was so good! I crammed in so much stuff…seeing lots of you, volunteering at the art show, helping in Dealer’s, attending some panels, fursuiting enough to feel like packing Ribsy was worth it, and so on. just a really fun and fulfilling one. party floor who?
