Using hydrogen as a fuel to replace natural gas has been strongly promoted by vested interest groups.
Many including myself raised serious concerns about scalability, cost and efficiency.
The more time passes, the more it looks like those concerns were well-founded.
A good moment to recall that bitcoins are a, if not the, central plank of Farage's economic policy. It's an order of magnitude madder than Trussonomics: www.cityam.com/farages-cryp...

06.02.2026 19:26 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0NEW ANALYSIS: UK household electricity bills have risen over the last 5 years.
BUT: Despite frequent claims that net zero is to blame: 2/3 of the increase is because of high gas prices shows new @ukerc.bsky.social report.
Arguably without renewable energy the UK would see even higher bills today.
Big Oil and their paid mouthpieces in Parliament, Tufton Street, and the media want to keep us hooked on fossil fuels, but a different, cleaner, more optimistic Britain is possible, if only we have to courage to seize it with both handsโฆ๐

Big moment for Europe: in December, fully electric cars outsold petrol-only cars in the EU for the first time.
This shows that clear, consistent policy works. Which is exactly why backtracking now would be a mistake. Rolling back targets or creating uncertainty would slow investment and innovation.
I see an outright racist is running in a by-election and I humbly suggest that is exactly the term we all use

An MP can wake up one morning, ditch the party you elected them for, & sign up to a completely different manifestoโฆ
No thanks
If they defect to a different party, we should get a vote

Three of the top five British grid electricity records smashed in 2025!
This is a huge success story, despite what Russian bots and U.S fossil fuel shills scream on X.
Every unit of clean domestic energy we produce means a safer future for our childrenโฆ๐ฅณ
The idea of an electoral backlash against hunting bans is pure fantasy. Voters are overwhelmingly urban or suburban. Few rural voters have anything to do with the hunts. Of those who do, even fewer would ever consider voting Labour. You couldnโt design an issue less likely to affect Labour voters!

And if solar parks are built near villages or towns, then offer the people who are potentially affected free electricity to offset their concerns.
Solar panels are not nuclear power stations. They can be removed with little environmental impact and can actually benefit biodiversity.
What this means after intense lobbying by German car makers is that due to economies of scale theyโll produce only high end internal combustion cars which means rich people get to carry on polluting, so thatโs nice www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The chaos of the current energy system has resulted in the highest #energy bills in Europe.
We need to look at countries like France and begin to plan to own our own energy. Only then, can the ever-bulging profits currently going to shareholders, be used to keep bills down.
Grid bottlenecks arenโt a failure of the energy transition โ theyโre proof itโs working.
Renewables got cheap fast, and now the grid has to catch up. Time to build the wires for the clean energy system we already have.
The Times are suffering confirmation bias - theย Greenย economy is motoring on, itโs the only game in town actually - the new industrial revolutionโฆ..and Britain can be 100% powered by the wind and sun - and have lower bills.

Despite months of febrile Budget speculation my first reflections areโฆthis was fair and reasonable.
Iโll pay more because we have an EV but I gain with continued triple lock pension and reduced energy bills - net gain.
Still think there should be a Wealth Tax for super-rich though
Renewables routinely generate more than half of U.K electricity.
They also generate thousands of jobs, reduce our exposure to volatile gas prices, and allow us to stick two fingers up to fossil-fueled dictators.

The UKโs push for energy independence is racing ahead as the transition from fossil fuels ramps up.

The end of the Oil Age wonโt come from scarcity โ itโll come from irrelevance. Solar, wind, and batteries arenโt waiting for permission; theyโre simply better.

The Co-operative Party has been campaigning relentlessly to put community at the heart of how we own and produce new, renewable energy. This is the result. By including the local ownership of energy, communities can stay front and centre.
