I went to many pubs while I was in England. Loved them. Drink prices on par with what I'm used to paying here and overall the people were really friendly. I wish we had pubs like that here! (Now if I could convince my body I'm not still in England that would be great.)

In Brighton, England, and it is very beautiful here. This is day 5 for me in England and I have to say I like it here very much.

I've had several misadventures today but I ended up in a pub near my hotel with good food and football. The day has certainly ended well.

I'm at the Austin Airport heading to London for World Fantasy (which is in Brighton later next week). The TSA agents are working hard and they currently aren't getting paid. What Trump and his government are doing is absolutely shameful with how federal employees are being treated.

I've had several of them including 3 weeks ago. This last one I had a choice of different vaccines and I selected the mRNA Pfizer. I'll take all the help I can get.

I am officially in the losing my mind with how much stuff I have to do before international travel phase of the week. Much of it actually Day Jobbe stuff. I've spent the last 30 minutes making a list of things to do/follow up on.

Right now it's just UT Austin but if UT accepts I suspect other institution's in the UT system will do so also.

Oh I think that is true. As well as non teaching employees.

UT hasn't signed yet but we all expect they will. New president is giving an address on Wed and what are the odds he announces the signing at that time?

After PT today I stopped at T Mobile and added a 10 day international Pass to my mobile plan to start when I land in London.

Only 9 more sleeps to go before heading to London!

I'm not unintelligent but I found myself listening to her speak and just wondering what the fuck she was talking about. Glad I'm not the only one. Also was surprised she was behind the so-called University of Austin. Living in Austin & working at the real uni here haven't paid much attention to it.

Time to drink more CA wines...

I worry that UT will give lip service to considering then just do it anyway. The president is a lawyer, not an academic, never taught in a classroom, worked with Paxton. Also fired the (woman) provost with 24 hrs of being appointed and has hired a lot of cons old white men for his leadership team.

Also Dorian frequently joins my zoom calls. A lot of my students know him.

We should! I am on zoom so much for work that I often shy away during the weekend but I'd be up for it!

I have a monthly zoom call with a friend in London. Since I'm going to London in 2 weeks I'll see her and her husband while I'm there. Zoom has made it so easy to stay in touch with people!

And also very much looking forward to the con otherwise, assuming there are ATC available to help me leave the country.

I'm not sure there's an agent or publisher who will be at WFC willing to take on this project. I feel like it needs some serious editing to make it marketable.

Buying a ticket to see NIN in March was so much easier and less stressful (and cheaper!) than trying to get Lady Gaga tickets. I have secured a ticket to see NIN. Can't wait! (Still hoping I manage to get a ticket to Lady Gaga but I'm not paying resellers $$$$$ prices. I'll keep checking for those.)

I'm starting work on the fall 2026 course schedule, so that our students have classes to take next year. It's not exciting work, very complex and detailed. So I'm streaming Lady Gaga while I work on it, and my supervisor was bopping outside my hallway to the music.

There's so much historical fiction about WWII that I've pretty much just stopped reading most of it unless the author can find a way to tell me a new story. Almost all of it seems to be about underground activities in western Europe. I think there are less done, more interesting stories to be told.
