A violation of multiple federal laws, too. For example, the position of the employee who is supposed to liase with Gallaudet and other special institutions is mandated in the Education of the Deaf Act of 86. I hope that will matter when the lawsuits come in.

Proof that public outcry can still be helpful, if temporarily. The money was rerouted to the National Center on Deafblindness, who will then distribute to the other programs. But it is only one year's worth, so keep an eye on it.

WTF: "An Education Department staffer told USA TODAY the agency laid off just about every employee who works to administer funding for IDEA, the primary federal law supporting students with disabilities. He was unsure how those programs will exist moving forward."
