The Atlas bulkhead flat car with the bulkhead properly attached. The middle bulldozer is one I've had for a year, with its tracks still intact. The two other dozers are missing their tracks due to aging.

A close up view of one end of the flatcar. You can see a build date of "5-07" at the bottom of the black box. The machined metal wheels had their shiny metal faces painted flat brown using a $2.50 acrylic marker from Walmart.

The railcar is now fixed and I painted the wheels faces brown for a dirty and rusty look. I need to spend some time creating a DIY set of tracks for the two bulldozers. I usually don't model anything beyond 1999, but this '07-built car is staying as I want to do something funny with later this year.

An Atlas bulkhead flat car with one bulkhead dislodged from its mounting holes. One bulldozers already has its tracks broken off in transit.

Both bulldozers after their tracks fell apart with only minimal force. Not seen is the oily residue left on the napkin and the flat car surface.

Man, I appear to be cursed with buying construction equipment with rubber tracks! I bought a bulkhead flat car that included two bulldozers... and both dozers had the dreaded decomposing tracks. The rubber is releasing the oil inside, becoming frail and brittle. One bulkhead was partially dislogded.

Trust me, I was the same way last week when my plans to see many furry friends at the largest model train show in the eastern US fell apart just 9 hours before takeoff. You just gotta pick (inflate) yourself back up, look forward to the next big thing, and hope that one goes better!

Knowing that as soon as those metal collars break, you'll have an endless, uncontrollable, appetite that'll doom your mobility.
