My GW1 punt: Madueke.
At just £7.5m, he’s affordable and, as noted above, Chelsea rank 5th for xG. He also has a great safety-net in Pedro Neto, and Chelsea face the 4th-lowest ranked side in the competition (FIFA rankings).

DIFFERENTIAL
Expect a strong template early on, so one way to break the mold is by stacking players — especially defenders or attackers — from the same team. In this tournament, we’re allowed four players from the same club, so why not stack four defenders from one solid team.

CAPTAINCY
Not much debate here — Captain Kane.
Bayern’s talisman has 35 league goal involvements (26 goals + 9 assists). They’re up against the lowest-ranked team in the competition (based on FIFA rankings).

CLEAN SHEET ODDS
Teams with the highest CS%: Bayern (82%), City (71%), Juventus (55%), Flamengo (52%), Real (50%)

Best value teams for CS: Juventus (55%), River Plate (48%), & Botafogo (42%)

EXPECTED GOALS
Teams with the highest xG: Bayern (4.72), City (3.03), Real (2.6), Juventus (2.55), Chelsea (2.37), & Flamengo (2.34)

DEF & GK
CS odds could change over the next week, however at the time of writing, my 3 top teams for value DEF & GK are;

- Flamengo 51% CS odds (4th best)
- Dortmund 47% CS odds (7th best)
- River Plate 46% CS odds (8th best)

MID
Araujo / 6m / Flamengo / vs Es Tunis / Good SN

Flamengo play the 6th worst team and have the 5th highest xG (GW1). He's a punt, but after a series of good performances, I could see the player breaking out during this tournament. He’s also considerably cheaper than Arrascaeta

MID
Ashour / £6.5m / Al Ahly / vs Miami / Decent S.N

Ashour is Al Ahly’s talisman and takes all penalties and courners. He has 20 goal involvments (13G + 7A) this season, & started 23/23 games averaging 87 mins. If you want a 90min talisman, he's your man.

MID
Nene / £7m / Salzburg / vs Pachuca / Decent S.N

Nene is Salzburgs designated penalty taker and has 17 goal involvements (13G + 4A) this season. Pachuca are the 7th worst rated team in the tournament. Watch him whip, Watch him Nae Nae!

FOR
Igor Jesus / £6.5m / Botafogo / vs Seattle Sounders / Good S.N

Last season: 0.58 np-xGI/90. Botafogo play the 8th-worst ranked team. Two solid S.N. options available who will play CF if he misses out.

FOR
Bencharki / £5m / Al Ahly / vs Inter Miami / Bad S.N

Al Ahly play in the first fixture — we’ll get team sheets so no need to worry about the S.N.
0.72 np-xGI/90 in the Egyptian PL – 3G + 2A in 10 league games (8 starts).

FOR
Driussi / £6.5m / River Plate / vs Urawa Reds / Bad S.N

Potential for pens with Mastantuono rumoured to leave. His stats aren’t amazing, but the fixture and price make him worth considering.

PLAYER / TEAM
I won’t waste your time telling you that Kane or Mbappe are good picks — let’s look at some cheap differentials that can help enable the big dogs

BE DIFFERENTIAL
This short-format game heavily rewards or punishes differential picks. It’s another core strategy in aggressive play—but don’t be different just for the sake of it. Aim for smart, calculated risks.

BE AGGRESSIVE
Most fantasy points are won in the group stage. As the competition progresses, matchups become tighter and less predictable. Players become less differential, making it harder to gain ground. The game can be won/loss in the group stages.

BE AGGRESSIVE
Target teams like Auckland City (Rank 32), Al Ain (R31), Ulsan (R30), Wydad (R29), and Urawa Reds (R28).

As long as Pep is around, no one is safe. I've literally seen people move Foden to Doku to KDB - trying to point chase.
