Both of my critiques are up. There were just over 100 items in the auction when I offered to contribute. Now there are over FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY, and still counting I'm sure.

The Year Without Sunshine
BY NAOMI KRITZER IN UNCANNY MAGAZINE
ISSUE FIFTY-FIVE 10883 WORDS

During one of the much smaller disasters that preceded the really big disaster, I met a lot of my neighbors online.
I can't remember if we set up the WhatsApp group because of the pandemic or the civil disorder or both. My Minneapolis block had always been reasonably friendlyβ€” people would take their kids around on Halloween, and 1 knew the names of my next-door neighbors-but everyone on the WhatsApp group got closer.

There are a few days left to apply to the Agents of Change mentorship! There are so few opportunities for newer agents to get support and professional development outside of their agencies, and I can't sing the praises of this program enough.

An idea that helped me start creating is that you can, and should, reuse your best ideas. I used to get locked into β€œOh I love that idea I should wait until I’m skilled enough to pull it offβ€œ nah just do it, then strip it for parts on what worked the best and do it again

I said the word "romantasy" in front of my 20 year old brother last night and he looked puzzled, so I said "it's exactly what it sounds like" and he replied "romantic... odyssey?" lmfao

I'd particularly love to find a few YA novels without a speculative element so I can listen to the audiobook. I'm still working on my audiobook processing skills and it can be tough for me to follow high fantasy audio if I haven't read the book before.

I've started requesting stacks of books from the library to read while my office is closed for the end of the year. Any recommendations? What were your favorite releases of 2025/2024? I'm mostly looking for YA fiction by newer authors, but open to something else if it sounds interesting.
