A comic I drew, hypothesizing on what would happen if my current 20-year old self got to talk to my past selves at various ages. The script of it is far too long to paste in this alt text, but i'll sum it up: I first meet my 9 year old self, who is explaining the mechanics of a lunar eclipse, and drawing a diagram of it. I am very proud of her for this, and slightly somber, knowing how much more gifted she is for her age than I am. Next, I meet 11-year-old me, who was just informed she would be going to a different middle school from the rest of her elementary school classmates. I try to comfort her, and tell her to keep her head up and keep being herself. She is also worried about whether or not Trump will win the 2016 election, and I tell her not to stress about it. Next, I meet 16-year-old me, who I try to talk about fan projects with, but she pretty quickly catches on to her impending transition, which I continuously deny since I figure she needs to realize she's trans on her own. Finally, I meet 18-year-old me, who is extremely distressed about the combination of starting college and being early into transition, and is desperate for any escape from it all. I give her a lengthy pep talk, with emphasis on taking things one day at a time, and how resilient she's been up to this point. The comic, however, is not over. Two disembodied voices (both being voices in my head) debate whether or not to hypothesize on if I met myself from my early teen years, which is then shown. In this panel - the final panel - my 13-year-old self is going on and on and on about the stupid internet culture of the time, and generally just being an ignorant brat, as she would. In response to this, I can't stop saying "shut up" to her over and over. I also think to myself in this moment, "oh my god, i get it now. all these years of pain... have all been karma... for THIS." This comic took up all of my free time on Monday, and it's one of my favorites I've made, so I hope you like it!
