like i am thankful to the fans who point out how wonderfully positive satomi is, anyone normal when faced with "i'll quit when kumicho is dead" would have responded with "wtf?" but instead satomi goes to have a think in the toilet and turns it into a "so he's saying there's a CHANCE..."
the best part of being in famiresu fandom is reading the chapter and screaming and then reading everyone else's screaming and then rereading the chapter and then screaming some more

kyouji's sense of responsibility is so heavy... it isn't "i'll stay until kumicho doesn't need me anymore," it's "i'll stay until he passes." when he takes ownership of something, he'll do it to the end. he's afraid of forcing that on satomi. i get that... but i also want you to STAND UP, OLD MAN
can't stop thinking about kyouji wondering what satomi's definition of "forever" is. it's been two weeks since satomi said "it's better that we don't meet again." the years are long and so short when you are 43. if satomi needs me for two weeks, for three months, for four years, all of that is ok.
there is nothing to forgive, mistakes are a sign that the creator is there and was so excited to share it with us that even the desire for perfection was not a barrier!!!!!!!

it is romantic to say "i'll be there for you, to clean up a murder / to pull an all-nighter / to stand up to your parents / to support you." but damn, it is staggeringly romantic to say, "call me anytime, to a mcdonald's late at night, to spend just a few minutes, of course those minutes are yours."
of course it's romantic to want to share someone's life with them, to want to hold them and touch them and support them. but it's a different kind of romantic to say, "can't you make just a little bit of time in your life for me? to meet up with me sometimes, so i know you are still alive."
it's not a bl manga where they're dating, it's not a shounen/seinen/josei manga where they're accomplishing anything together, they're not teammates or coworkers or even friends. they just want to be in each other's mundane (and not so mundane) lives.
what makes "i want to be with you forever like this" and "until you don't need me anymore, i'll be with you" so special in this context is that... what they want to do is just to see each other occasionally, to eat a meal, to have not even particularly fulfilling conversations with each other
kyouji expressing his love through food bc giving satomi fried rice at karaoke heaven was the only unambiguous gesture satomi ever accepted from him.....
i know it's supposed to apply to both of them but that line is so narita kyouji coded

with the magical kaoru chapter and the mcdonald's convo here, there isn't a "setup" or a "payoff," the joke is so clearly observed in the moment and in the dialogue, so you want to luxuriate in it bc you don't know (unlike with a 4koma) what kind of dynamic is waiting for you in the next panel
maybe it's just been so long since i've had such a rush of emotion but i feel like famiresu chp 14 is so clearly the work of the same person who did sonohoshi, the comedic timing is so offbeat and disarming but in a way that makes you want to really linger in those moments
