Snowdrops are also known as ‘Candlemas Bells’, as they bloom around #Candlemas. This Christian celebration of light echoes the older pagan festival of #Imbolc, and is observed on 2nd February to mark the ritual purification of Mary after the birth of Jesus.

Black History Month is a time to recognize the lived, shared experience of all Black folks who have fundamentally shaped, challenged, and ultimately strengthened America. It’s about taking an unvarnished look at the past so that we can create a better future.

In early Edo times a superstition emerged that dreaming of the following was particularly auspicious:
*Ichi-Fuji (一富士 Mt. Fuji)
*Ni-taka (二鷹 a Hawk)
*San-nasubi (三茄子 an Eggplant)
Although there are theories, it's unclear why these objects were placed together on a list.
Our black and white photograph captures a harbor scene with several boats docked under a dramatic, overcast sky in Oslo, Norway. The photograph is taken at water level, emphasizing the textures of the icy water in the foreground. The composition leads the eye to the docked vessels. The three boats are the most prominent objects. The boat on the far left end of the frame is a two-masted sailing ship. The middle boat appears to be a larger ferry or cruise ship. The boat on the right side is a smaller, single-masted sailing ship. These boats are tied to a sturdy pier or quay, marked with dark tires used as bumpers. The background includes buildings that appear modern in architecture. The sky above is filled with heavy, dark clouds, creating a brooding atmosphere. The overall tone of the picture is serious and still. The monochrome palette enhances the somber mood, focusing attention on the shapes and textures of the boats, water, and sky. Finally our picture is finished with a simple, white border frame.
