I actually thought they were going to cal them BHNS (Bus a Haut Niveau de Service). Thatโ€™s what they called it in Liรจge, and they changed their branding to โ€œBuswayโ€ (in French, no joke ๐Ÿซ )โ€ฆ but at least they donโ€™t pretend to be Trams.

On the HNSโ€ฆ I think they are really overpromising and underdel.!

You can just put the address of your first Hotel, they want to make sure you have a "landing place" for the first time you arrive.

If you are only connecting flights in the USA, you can just write "Onwards Connection" or "In Transit" with the address of the Airport you're transiting.

ICE vehicles waste a whopping 80% of the energy in their fuel.

Electric vehicles are propelled by entirely different mechanisms. Energy enters the vehicle as electricity, which directly powers the drivetrain: EVs need not convert one form of energy to another resulting in much higher efficiency.

Some amazing European Railway announcements:

I guess these are the kind of things you could ask a Generative AI help with. I would say that doing a shorter TL;DR than this one page summary wouldn't do good to explain the pros and the cons.
if the question is what is MERCOSUR, the TL;DR: it's a trade deal with LatAm countries.

Could a metro system link the whole of Europe by 2040? 21st Europeโ€™s Starline network plans to connect 39 destinations in European countries - with lines reaching the UK, Turkey and Ukraine too.

Is this really a serious proposal... What do you think
@jonworth.eu ?

How come I see so many news article suddenly popping-up with this (close to crazy) idea, that, in my opinion, look more like a flight map than a rail one.
Is there any seriousness behind this?

It gives insights indeed to why we are not likely to see those north/(east) of France anytime soon.

It was great going to the @standupfornuclear.org protest in Belgium, but depressing that there's so many of them for closures of nuclear power plants. Unbelievable that gas is getting this handout in 2025!!

By the way, itโ€™s important to note that SNCB/NMBS plans to loose revenue from ticket sales when this system will be introduced (as globally trios will be cheaper) but it hopes to quickly make up the difference by transporting more people through these new attractive tariffs !

With this new cheap discount card (giving 40% off + an extra 30% off in weekends) and the cap on tickets if you have this discount card, you will always benefit from the cheapest fare for your journey at the moment you need to travel!

I just hope they keep the Youth Holidays (unlimited)!

Today, with the โ€œx-multiโ€ system, one always has to break their head and make quasi actuarial calculations to know what is the cheapest option for a given journey. Especially when you consider weekend-returns or if you donโ€™t know exactly what your future trips might look likeโ€ฆ

19.02.2025 20:05 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 0    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 1    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

Nevertheless, it will also mean that a lot of journeys will become much cheaper than currently.

Furthermore travellers will not anymore need to think:
โ€œdo I use my standard-multi, do I use a weekend ticket or do I just buy a standard ticket?โ€

This was announced in Parliament more than a year ago! (Nothing new to me)

And itโ€™s a good thing. For a start, youths, pensioners and BIM, the cap on tickets will be as cheap as the current Youth-Multi (5,5โ‚ฌ).

For adults, the cap will be slightly higher than the std-multi (14โ‚ฌ);

COโ‚‚ and sulphur dioxide emissions have been decoupled.

COโ‚‚ has a very long atmospheric lifetime, accumulates, and causes global warming.

While atmospheric sulphur is very short lived (it rains out) and causes regional and global cooling by dimming the sun

Of course he would say that, when he operates Nuclear reactor in a country that overtaxes nuclear reactors, regardless of their production, and subsidises the construction of gas power plants as well as wind farms!

A short article, but important wake-up call: we determine now how bad things are going to get. In my view we either ignore nuclear and dream on about a "100% renewable" future that in reality is backed by loads of fossil fuel, or we actually move to zero [โ€ฆ]

Extract of the document shared in the previous post. With an important highlight in this text:

โ€œSubsidies for nuclear energy, after being stable for several years since 2015 (averaging at EUR 4.2 billion), reached almost EUR 5 billion in both 2019 and 2020. However, in 2021 they rose further to EUR 7.2 billion, although even after this increase nuclear subsidies still only represented 4% of total energy subsidies in the EU. This increase was mainly linked to financial instruments to compensate for the early closure and decommissioning of nuclear facilities, principally in Germany and France. Compensation schemes are mainly based on paying for electricity that will not be generated (due to the early closure) or for โ€˜strandedโ€™ assets. In Germany, compensation of EUR 2.4 billion was paid in November 2021, which substantially impacted the total amount of subsidies for nuclear energy in Europe.โ€

Yes. Crazy.
This is an extract of that documentโ€ฆ most of the subsidies given to the nuclear sector is just to allow for premature closure like in Germany or the Fessenheim NPP in France!
