I’m so torn because I agree with you but at the same time I want to scream from the rooftops, β€œWHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?!!!!!!”

The power of a cult.

February's "Snow Moon" looked fantastic this morning over a snow-covered Portsmouth and its South Meetinghouse. High clouds from the bomb cyclone off the east coast gave the sky around it a nice glow.

This is exactly the approach I hoped to see and more police departments across the country need this directive in place.

Hmmm, Mr. President, it sounds like you've practically repealed the Second Amendment. How will your gun-toting, card-carrying cult followers feel about this? Will they leave their guns at home now?

It's so weird living in a border town between a state with a Democrat governor, outspoken against the president, and a Republican governor. In one state you're constantly on the lookout for masked thugs in the street disappearing people. In the other state, it's a Saturday before a snowstorm.

The early evening aurora substorm was one for the books. I stopped here hoping for some decent leftover aurora before the storm started winding down, but instead, the sky exploded in huge pink pillars and shimmering greens.

The red and pink aurora turned blue as the sun illuminated it. The transition line to blue slowly falls as it gets closer to sunrise; traffic picking up on the road on the right edge of the frame (causing lens flare in upper left).

AURORA TIMELAPSE: It took FOREVER for the aurora to start back up overnight; a frustrating hunt turned into a great show in the predawn hours as people headed to work.

"Blue Owl."

Female snowy owl on a chimney during a cloudy blue hour (20 minutes after sunset). Just look at those eyes...

Saw this post a couple hours ago, closed BlueSky, mentally moved on to other things, opened BlueSky just now, and this is what I saw:

Ahhhhh lovely! I didn’t realize until a few years ago how they all come to the coast for the winter. This year was the first time I ever heard one call (happened two separate occasions) while at the coast. Chilly day but brought me to mild summer nights.

Flight shots of a short-eared owl just over ten minutes before sunset. Most owls you'll see perched far more often than in flight; it's the opposite for shorties.

My favorite photo of an Eastern Screech Owl to date. What's amazing is this was a 10-second exposure almost an hour after sunset. I couldn't see the bird with my own eyes. It's remarkable how still they can sit for so long.
