But there's no need to separate those concepts, they could've kept the punk outfit and add to that some sort of uniform look

If they have characters that are so physically alike, they need to give them some features to differentiate them. I literally had to look for the brown bag strapped to his thigh to make sure it was him.

The jacket and the sun glasses were perfect details to spot him and immediately know it was Kon

See, I like that suit for Kon but the leather jacket with spikes was so characteristic of him.
