This is the luxury five-star resort Republicans are spending their weekend at after they’ve decided they would rather shut down the government than give people healthcare.

Sunrise is building in this moment: a mass movement to stop Trump, defeat fascism, and win a Green New Deal future.

What ordinary people do in the coming months will determine whether or not Trump can cement his grip on power and turn this country into a playground for the rich and powerful.
Sunrise has always risen to the challenge. In this moment, that means taking on the crisis of authoritarianism head-on.
3. Pitch an alternative.
Fascism feeds on pain and frustration — but immigrants and trans people aren’t to blame. Billionaires are. (And their bought-out politicians.)
We have a chance to push for real change. And it looks — as always — a lot like a Green New Deal.
2. Move the public against fascism.
Trump is stoking fear and division, hoping the public will overlook his corruption. But ICE raids and military crackdowns can’t hide the truth: his billionaire-backed agenda is causing pain for working people.
1. Non-cooperation.
We will slow down Trump’s authoritarian assault by refusing to cooperate with the status quo.
If enough of us join in, he can’t hold onto power. That’s why we’re organizing school walkouts, creative protests, and mass trainings across the country.
There's no path to meaningful climate action that doesn't run through confronting authoritarianism.
The coming months will be history-altering. We must act like it. Here’s what that looks like 🧵
Trump is mad that Democrats won't agree to cut healthcare for millions of people.
So, he's threatening to cancel grants to blue states to coerce Senators into folding.
This is textbook authoritarianism.
Donald Trump is a liar. We all know it.
Hold the line and fight back @schumer.senate.gov.

Trump tells UN that climate change is 'greatest con job' globally
At the UN, Trump called climate change a “con job.” The only con is Trump himself—a Big Oil sellout willing to sacrifice our planet for profit. We need climate action, not climate denial.

From Texas to California, Republicans are attacking the First Amendment rights of students and teachers.

Trump got Kimmel fired because he didn't like his jokes.
In response, comedians are roasting Trump at ABC's NYC HQ and demanding media companies stand up for free speech.
The show is free and open to the public.
This isn't about Jimmy Kimmel.
This is about whether the President can get you fired if he doesn't like what you say.
Cracking down on dissent is authoritarianism and has no place in America.
Critical piece of the Kimmel story:
Nexstar (owner of many ABC affiliates), wants a favor from Trump. They want to do a $6.2 billion mega merger that flaunts anti-trust laws.
In return, they took a top Trump critic off the air.
Brazen corruption.

Republicans pretend to be the party of free speech but Trump can't stop suing anybody who says anything negative about him.

This will just be another thinly veiled excuse for Trump to attack his opponents and his critics, under the guise of "law and order".
The vast bulk of political violence and violent rhetoric comes from the right, and they are trying to cover that fact up.
