I know I have my father's nose, for example; poor mum had a nose like a mashed strawberry. I've definitely got his jawline, too, because my family are generally more round-faced. It's... strange in a way I can't quite articulate. Knowing something from its absence in the places I'm from.

I don't know my father. Just as well; knowing the circumstances that lead to me existing at all, if we met in person I would very certainly go to jail.

What it means, though, is there's a whole part of my appearance that I don't 'recognize' in the mirror, in a sense.
