The text generator generates text. If you ask it for persuasive text, it generates text that is more persuasive. The text generator cannot lie, or tell the truthβit just generates text. Every time we say βthe bot liedβ we are misleading ourselves.

a little intel from the parent of a 6yo: if you're hearing about kids replacing 6-7 with 9-11, it's probably not malicious. My kid learned a rhyme - "6-7, my name is kevin, i was born on 9-11" - and has no idea it means anything. Sometimes he says "at 9:11" like it's a time!

Um, if an LLMs's tendancy to lie and cheat isn't something that can be stopped, maybe this isn't a great product to incorporate at every level of our professional and personal lives?

I understand the utility of an AI phone tree... thing... but the soundscape of a busy call center in the background is honestly just insulting. Let the smooth robot be a robot.

Even if this is a problem,Β can you imagine knowing anything else about the current state of higher ed and thinking it's even a top 40 problem? Post-pandemic, students have become much more willing to communicate when they need help. If some parents in Scarsdale are gaming the system, I don't care.
