Twenty years ago, U.S. tech companies arrived in Ireland eager to set up their European headquarters in an English-speaking country with beneficial tax rates and an educated workforce.
What have they done for the people of Ireland?

Delighted to have a new article with The Dial - this time on tech giants, their alarming inflation of our GDP, and the mutation of the Dublin docklands from the early 2000s to today. Thanks to The Dial for the commission & their wonderful & astute editorial support.

The only โhonest conversation about immigrationโ would state that there is no solid ground for saying that immigration in Ireland is too high and only the prejudiced would make such a claim
04.11.2025 10:40 โ ๐ 223 ๐ 43 ๐ฌ 4 ๐ 2A chara, - In January 1989, the British Minister Douglas Hogg stated that some solicitors were โunduly sympathetic to the cause of the IRAโ. Three weeks later Pat Finucane was murdered by loyalists. It is widely accepted in Ireland that there was a consequential link between these two events. Will there be a similar recognition of the responsibility political leaders bear for inciting violence in the wake of the horrific arson attack on a centre for international protection applicants in Drogheda on Hallowen night, only days after the Tรกnaiste described migration numbers as โtoo highโ? - Is mise Wendy Lyon

01.11.2025 12:00 โ ๐ 33 ๐ 10 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 1Bad enough the Gardaรญ gave free run to the far right for years.
Bad enough arson against immigrant centres became standard practice for racists.
Bad enough we've already had race riots.
The Taoiseach & Tรกinaiste poured petrol on all the above during the week, & we shouldn't be shy in saying it.
"What youโre looking at here is economic migration, primarily, and basically, people shouldnโt come to Ireland if they know deep down that theyโre not going [to be granted asylum].โ - Micheal Martin on Thursday.
You may as well have lit the touch-paper yourself, Taioseach.
Looking forward to reading some poems at (a sold out) Nighthawks tonight in some great company ๐

So we're about to enter an extremely racist era in Irish politics, all because our leader fucked up a presidential campaign to never before seen levels, and now he has to get competitively racist to save his own skin.
