“I have no professional interest in people looking at my face” is, not to be dramatic about it or anything, an idea for which I am willing to live and die

Some of you have forgotten that only three years ago you were perfectly capable of writing a text, writing an email, telling a bedtime story to a child, and it should worry you that powerful companies have convinced us we can’t do things we’ve been doing since the dawn of time.

Mister Tally Man must tally me banana, it is in his nature inherently. To deny him this would be a cruelty that I cannot condone

For me science fiction is a way of wanting justice. Imagining worlds less broken.

In our world, Zora Neale Hurston died in poverty, her world-changing words almost forgotten. I love that Star Trek Discovery carried her spirit forward in the name of the ship's brilliant anthropologist-computer.

Currently watching TNG for the first time and my crush on Data seems to make my partner genuinely jealous (though it’s turning more into amusement). Oddly enough I pick a character to crush on for most shows we watch, but Data is the only character my partner has shown jealousy towards.😂

This is why having a government strong enough to regulate and hold accountable corporate malfeasance is necessary.

Maybe there's a reason why corporate-captured politicians love "small" government. They don't like it small, they like it ineffective.

Sink that looks a face.

The sink in bathroom at my dentist office always looks concerned.

Please be kind to those who are still wearing masks in public. It is not about politics but about choosing what's best for the people that we love and care for.
There are many people who are still testing for Covid. Cancer patients and their spouses/caregivers still have to take precautionary measures. My husband, a cancer patient, is risking his life every time we are outside. We both have to wear masks all the time. Thank you for understanding.

Posted in 2024 but still relevant in 2025.

A black and white meme of a friend holding their friend back from buying new pens. "You've got enough pens... (Your friend) You: "But these are different!!!"

The obsession I have with pens and pencils should be studied.

Just finished The Spear Cuts Through Water by Simon Jimenez during my lunch break at work, and all I want to do is curl up into a ball and process the beauty of the world and story I just experienced…. But I have to clock back in and be normal about it for a few more hours.

WISDOM TEETH

Doctor says the incisions will only heal if I hold warm saltwater in my mouth. So there is a wound inside me and I am bathing it in oceans of sorrow in order to move forward.

Repeat after me: Somewhere the moon rises out of the rain. Somewhere Icarus crawls out of the sea, unburned and alive. Somewhere we are polishing the word absence with our tongues and learning not to be terrified of all we lack.

Ache first, yes, but then let the cuts close. Spit out the blood. Watch your body pull itself back together, in spite of the lost wings, the stolen bones, the halted songs.

Watch your body pull itself back together, then let your soul do the same.

Ache first, yes, but then let the cuts close.
Spit out the blood. Watch your body pull itself
back together, in spite of the lost wings,
the stolen bones, the halted songs.

Watch your body pull itself back together,
then let your soul do the same. - Keaton St.James

A distressed-looking shark with two killer whales on each side

So true! Oh man, it’s the worst. So stressful, 😆.

This is your reminder to download your kindle books onto a device where you can keep hold of them if Amazon decides to remove them.

They'll be removing that option on the 26th of this month. 5 days. So back up your library!

Grid of images by different artists of Gertrude Stein & Alice B. Toklas's two poodles, both named Basket

After the enthusiastic response to my posts yesterday on Gertrude Stein's poodles (collectively) named Basket, I did some digging & realized we could curate an entire show around art devoted to these beloved companion animals. So, without further ado, a proposal for BASKET: THE EXHIBITION (thread)

I know this sounds weak, I know it.

But kindness is one of the few things we carry that can make a difference for each other.

We can’t undo all this hate, but we can still make life a little easier for others.
