My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

Exactly right. Why should we respect a president who doesn’t respect the constitution he swore an oath to uphold?

From street marches to court battles to the ballot box - we’ve challenged the power of this exceptionally unpopular president.

The lesson from each success we've had is that we need to ramp the political pressure up, always up, not back down, now more than ever.

Even after the government shutdown ends, U.S. flight cancellations are expected to drag on The Senate took a first step toward ending the shutdown Sunday, but final passage could still be several days away.

Air travelers should expect worsening cancellations and delays this week even if the government shutdown ends, as the Federal Aviation Administration moves ahead with deeper cuts to flights at 40 of the busiest U.S. airports, officials said Monday.

Post from Pete Buttigieg that reads: It's a bad deal.

Everyday life - making it better and more affordable - must always be our bottom line.

For months, I’ve been hearing from people bracing for their health insurance bills to skyrocket - so much that some will lose coverage altogether. Some say they simply haven't even opened their letter yet, dreading the bad news.

Any deal that fails to address this directly is a bad deal.

The silver lining to the surrender by 8 Dems is that the House GOP must return to vote on it. Johnson must swear in Grijalva, and the discharge petition on the Epstein files must force a full floor vote. Stay tuned.

The President wouldn't last five minutes as an air traffic controller, and after everything they've been through - and the way this administration has treated them from Day One - he has no business shitting on them now.

In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

This deal to reopen the government is fucking disgraceful.

Tens of millions will lose their healthcare. Trump will be emboldened.

This is exactly what’s wrong with Democratic Party leadership and why we need more people in Congress who will actually hold the line.

We want this #shutdown to end as much as anyone, but giving in to promises of a future vote on ACA subsidies is weak sauce. The House pen won’t even allow it and we can do this shutdown dance again in January. 😩

Senators, don’t make all this pain for nothing. Be bold. HOLD. THE. LINE.
