An issue 1 deeply woven into previous stories and characters with minimal explanation of it all, doesn't point readers to those previous stories, and is also somehow inconsistent with how some of these same characters look and act in other current books.
Mind boggling.
Couple that with the '* - see previous issue' style captions rarely being used anymore and many series ignoring continuity outside each writer's personal playground and you can't help but feel the transitory and disposable nature of it all.
I sample a lot of new comics and am disappointed at how many recent superhero #1's fail to clearly introduce their cast + premise because they're just the next issue of a previous series.
