I agree and there is that felt sense memory of freedom as a kid on my bike.
I feel joy in the leaving behind of the problems and mistakes of the day for a little bit of now, in the moment relief. On longer rides, the self made cocktail of endorphins does a pretty fine job on top of that! And finally, the playing with others on a social ride are just fun ways to share joy.

Every day I hear words strung together to make up sentences. It is exhausting, and alienating.
This is all true. BUT. All 3 of these guys seemed to waste all their energy and political capital on "reaching across the aisle" and forever trying to give the GOP credit for things they accomplished on their own.
So of course voters think the GOP are good guys.
The Democrats tell them that.
