Agreed. Our desperate need for season 4 of The Orville is real!

If you want to understand an extreme example, go watch the "All the World is Birthday Cake" episode of The Orville which brilliantly illustrates how stupid a society looks following this kind of nonsense.

If you have not yet watched The Orville, I highly recommend it. I'm a lifelong Trekkie, and The Orville is now my favorite sci-fi show.

In a 2017 Reddit AMA, MacFarlane noted that he chose the Orville name while writing the pilot episode and reading a biography of the Wright brothers, in which "there seemed to be some depiction of Orville as the 'beta' brother. Seemed like a good fit for our midlevel craft."

Unironically, The Orville is one of the best Star Trek inspired series out there. The authenticity it exudes was actually a surprise.
