Mediocre fan writer, lapsed historian, occasional bureaucrat. Reply guy on Swedish Bluesky.
So we’re above them then (I only really know about Transylvanian/PLC history in the context of the deluge)

7: Germany
History teaching in Sweden today is of course better at not glorifying the military expansionism of the period but they still tend to magnify the suffering of the Swedish people. Which yeah, taxes and conscription sucks but are they really the real victims here?

03.11.2025 16:00 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 2 📌 0I mean pdx is a Swedish company and the PLC has a very clear role in Swedish historiography, though mainly as “those people we gave a jolly good kicking, oh what a lark” to a degree that is literally proverbial.

So, you know, it's a little hit-or-miss.

Also the Japanese never tried to invade New Zealand during the war.
Coincidence? I think not.
(In actually I think it’s because the company is from a place called Gävle with Gevalia being a latinised name for the town, hence they wanted to add the umlauts to further appeal to their hometowns name)

01.11.2025 16:40 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Who am I do deny such an audience?
The letter e is pronounced /eː/ with a somewhat nasally sound while ä is pronounced /ɛː/ usually as a long vowel. However the Stockholm dialect is infamous for substituting the /ɛː/ sound for an e sound, essentially dropping one of the letters.
There is a Swedish dialectal joke hiding here but I’ll refrain from making it.
