And at the start of the month, I found this single in a shop just round the corner from where I discovered todayβs LP. Probably not a coincidence? (THREAD)

Itβs been a fab four weeks for finding cool and collectible covers of songs by The Beatles. Todayβs treasure is this 1967 LP by The London Jazz Four, picked up for just 50p. Includes a great version of Things We Said Today (THREAD)

All these singles appear in one form or another on Gary Crowleyβs brilliant Lost 80s Vol 2 box set. Its accompanying booklet features my pics of Clare Grogan, Nick Heyward, Sade and Blancmange, along with these other bits and pieces from my archive

Tour starts Thursday! Shame I canβt bring the Gas βnβ Air band over from Mexico, but the Balloon acoustic trio is sounding equally fab, plus thereβs @timkeegan.bsky.social and @dannythechamp.bsky.social to enjoy. Londons sold out but tickets for other shows via the bio or linktr.ee/balloontheband

It was a smallish, very ordinary space that was a cafeteria during the day and hosted a few occasional concerts. In my three years at Birmingham, I can only remember three concerts there - Way of the West supported by Blancmange, Aztec Camera, and the show I promoted
