My theory in Gnosia didnt get answered... but they did answer what happens to the player/Yuri afterward, which the game didnt, so I'll take it as a win.
I can see why MANT/Trackblazer in Uma is absurd for overall power. This was just a test run that got incredibly unlucky and it still didn't do that badly.
It just took *way* longer. And SSR Mati is basically a permanent borrow...
Biffed the first interview since I lost my job. Complete deer in headlights moment when procedure came up.
Doesn't help I'm the type that takes "do it this way" notes and refers to them every time. Makes me good at disaster recovery at least!
So in order to motivate me to work on Disgaea Netherear Vassal cards, Im going to prioritize the Uniques. Basically each Leader has a Vassal version, slightly more powerful than normal Vassals but also has more counterplay.
It'll be scuffed, but would make the game playable sooner.
Started LinkedIn premium, it was free, maybe just maybe it'll be that one thing that helps...
Instantly inundated with fake listings that has made the search even more difficult.
Today's Gnosia episode was the moment it needed to stick the landing.
It largely did, only nitpicky stuff to detract from it.
Next episode is definitely going to expand on the True Ending, and I get to see if the theory I've had is correct.
Having a recruiter block me after reaching out to me is a first. Wanted 12 years in a certain niche thing as a hard requirement, I have 3.5 with another 2 doing something closely related. Blocked the moment I say that.
I get Mainframe is super difficult to recruit for, but still!
Seeing my old role clog up my job search stings a bit.
Well, it counted as a layoff.
Still, less auto-rejections than expected, and while I am working through a backlog theres more positions than I expected. Last time I did this, there was *maybe* one legit posting a week.
Well, Day 1 of job searching effectively done. Less auto-rejections than expected. Going to be fun to have to check all the usual suspects near daily since my roles (Mainframe z/vm) dont tend to legitimately end up on job sites.
Guess theres more time for the card game creations, then...
Well, 35 applications sent today. Forgot these jobs dont typically end up on LinkedIn.
Still though...
So my contract was suddenly removed, with a new, identical contract that isn't remote already being advertised.
Lovely. Anyone need a z/VM developer?
I suspect the next episode of Gnosia is going to answer my theory that Ive had since before the anime; the question *and* answer the original game only infers and you're supposed to speculate and reason out.
If I'm right, it makes way more sense.
Its one character but seven playstyles, and of those each get some small (tiny) variations depending on what magichange you bring.
Probably not the amount of depth you're looking for, though.
Im glad the Gnosia anime is expanding the ending, Im just so damn nervous about it. They've always needed to explain how they're sticking the landing for this series to work.
Like, I get the True Ending is only about half a episode of discussion. But is there enough time left?
Well, yesterday's post blew up in a way I was not expecting nor was prepared for. I'm more used to just shouting into a void... still, thanks.
Wish I had more to show on either of the card games, but between my day job and personal tribulations I haven't had that much time, energy, or motivation.
Well, better than its previous, completely blown-out assets.
Disgaea Mayhem announced for WW today! I've played the JP version and while the presentation are story are a bit lacking, the gameplay core is solid.
So to celebrate, remade their Disgaea Netherwar card with the newer info.
Still think "Dark Aura" on the new .hack trailer is Zefie. Wouldn't even be the first time they've changed a character's hair color.
Theory is, Enshittification got to Aura and Zefie is out to prove to her mom that humanity still has that spark in them. Just, Zefie's control isn't as refined...
Done spending money in Nikke, though the story is still great. N9t quitting, but not much else left to do.
At the point in Umamusume that it'll take hundreds of dollars to upgrade the account, so I'll just stick with my consistent A+ runs.
Bounced off of Arknights Endfield.
Guess my money's safe?
Good Morning The World.
A new dotHack game in 2026 was not on my bingo card, but unbelievable amounts of hype for it. One of the actual formative media for me.
Theme is "enshittification of tech/internet", no wonder why Aura looks depressed... and is that Zefie?
HYPE
Watching all of the anitubers and reddit react to Gnosia ep18.
Me, laughing like a madman in the corner.
I get my answer.
Stumbled back onto his assets while doing some stock, so decided to render while it was on my mind.
Part of the "Extended Worlds" block of Disgaea Netherwar. For leader cards, they're basically grouped together in "blocks" of nine cards as the design of the game fits an Expandable Card Game.
And that big one could very, very easily lead into a supposed Gnosia 2 release, and it would work.
Yup, the Gnosia anime is going to more explicitly answer the three inferred questions the True Ending asks including the "big one", and I cannot wait for it to stick that landing.
Also, that SQ episode change makes way more sense with today's episode.
Hype
And like, I get it, I'm depressed and I know this is where the self-doubt is coming from. Where I'm at is a geek wasteland, its three hours to the nearest convention with an actual panel room... and I cant move for the moment.
But maybe venting into the void will help for today.
And then there the depression-fueled thought of "possibly neither game is fun to play as they're too slow". Every top 5 tcg are speed demons compared to what I prefer and I worry that my design style just isn't compatable with today. Its a cold comfort that at least I'm not doing this for a living.
UmaDCG is struggling to get off of the ground even though I have "enough" assets for it, and I think its because I've been using the development of this to run away from the sheer amount of work necessary to complete DisgaeaDCG. I went straight to my back pocket mechanics in my comfort zone.
For Disgaea, I need way more art assets than what there is available, and placeholder art/text just makes the current non-Leaders look... not great even if they function. Can't afford commissions, and GenAI is just a good way to attract hate (I get enough side-eye just using non-Gen upscalers).
A lot of my problem with just getting these card games out of the door is just motivation. And its hard to be motivated with how isolated I am.
I used to stream the card creation progress and that at least kept me on task, but the new workflow isn't very good at show-and-tell.
Gnosia anime is putting *way* more work into answering the actual most important question of the series than the game did, since the game expected you to extrapolate and infer everything about that question. Narratively, probably for the best.
Great episode.
Whelp, finally got unlucky in Nikke. PvP server merges landed again, with mine having no less than four leviathans, shutting me out of Champion's Arena for good. Had been okay in that regard until this merge.
They each have more than double my power. Not spending thousands to catch up.
