So much soreness. I've worked out 4 days in a row for the first time since May, I think.

Ha! I'm also sore and feeling very old tonight

27.09.2025 00:26 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

YES!! I think this is it exactly. I'm feeling bloodthirsty and these books help with that. As does my boxing classes.

LMAO! It is so odd. I am not sure I enjoy it per se, but I can't look away. And often I'm like "DIE SUCKER DIE!"

Yeah . . . it is weird. And they often tend to have a rom-com type feel - for example in Scythe and Sparrow the MC Rose throws up around anything gory. And she throws up quite a bit. I'm not sure how I feel about it . . . but can't look away either.

Yes. The MCs are serial killer types. Generally, they are only killing really bad guys. I am fascinated.

Brynne Weaver's The Ruinous Love trilogy is one such example

I admit that I find this serial killer romance trend to be fascinating. I am having so many thoughts about the concept of justice in romance bc I think that this plays a large part in this serial killer trend as it is normally serial killers killing serial killers or other bad dudes. #Romancelandia

In keeping with my weird serial killer romance obsession (which I guess I love bc I am feeling very stabby of late???), I finished Brynne Weaver's Scythe and Sparrow. I am waiting for my hold on bk 3 in the trilogy (Leather and Lark) to come in to the library. #Romancelandia

My Mom stayed w/ my husband & I this summer. She didn't want to be alone up here after my Dad died in January. It was wonderful to have her here. She has returned home & I miss her. Often we'd be sitting in our respective chairs in my living room reading on our kindles not talking.

The Ben and Judd story in Nalini Singh's newsletter is making me need to re-read Caressed by Ice. So many happy sighs.

Ha! I did figure that out. :)

Okay. I have downloaded the Boundless ebook app onto my Boxx and my Kindle Fire. The Boston Public Library is discontinuing Hoopla and is implementing Boundless which is by Baker & Taylor (which librarians will know). Let's see how this works.

Thank you. I have it downloaded into the Boundless ebook app on my Boxx

I can also read it in the Boundless book app but I chose the ADE edition by mistake. I think I've gotten it all set in the app.

I was able to get it downloaded into the Boundless ebook app thankfully.

I cannot read it like that. And apparently one cannot change the format. So, I have returned it and will attempt to check it out again. UGH!

When my latest ebook hold came in at the library, I mistakenly chose the epub edition that has to be read in Adobe Digital Editions. I have never attempted to read a book in this. I find it unreadable. UGH!

I read Accomplice to the Villain by Hannah Nicole Maehrer which also has a bit of an ending. The series (& relationship between Sage & The Villain) is not at HEA yet. But this series has brought me joy even tho things seem bleak for Sage, The Villain and their crew at the end of this. #Romancelandia

August Lane by Regina Black was one of my favorite romances of the month (and probably the year). So angsty with very human and messy characters all of whom I loved. #Romancelandia

In August, I also started Piper Rayne's Plain Daisy Ranch books. I am currently 2 books into this series and have the 3rd one waiting for me on my kindle. Small town romance with ranchers. I am fully invested. #Romancelandia

And there is a bit of a cliffhanger ending in this one. Not for the book's primary romantic relationship but for the sister. I am a big fan of this series and will be counting down the days until the next book is out. #romancelandia

I also read Rulebreaker by Elise Faber and Kat Mizera, the 4th book in a 5 book series, about 4 life-long friends who are mourning their 5th friend, and 1 of the 4's sister who is a prominent character. It is this sister that will be featured in bk 5. #Romancelandia

This is bc Val's journey takes up more space than the romance - and Val is having a relationship with another man for half of the book. I admit to skimming much of these parts as I was more interested in the romance aspect. But a great read overall. #Romancelandia

Val, the lawyer, spends the summer on the Vineyard sort of finding herself. She gets a job as a nanny to Luke's, a year-round resident, daughter.

I enjoyed this one quite a bit. I would say it is equal parts romance and women's fiction. #Romancelandia

Going thru my August reads and I have some thoughts about what I read.

The last book I read last month was Maria Anne Lenihan's Morning Glory Girl which I got bc it is set on Martha's Vineyard. A burnt out NY lawyer travels to MV after fainting in the office for the summer. #Romancelandia

August was a great reading month for me. FINALLY bc 2025 hasn't been the greatest of reading years. I actually read 39 books (6 egalleys which is high for me these days, 1 re-read of Stepanie Lauren's Devil's Bride, and 1 print book - Song of the Waves by Anne Hampson). #Romancelandia

This thought is brought to you by the epilogue of Elise Faber and Kat Mizera's Rulebreaker. And Oathbreaker isn't out until 10/27. THAT EPILOGUE!!!!!!!! I did not see that one coming. The end of October seems so far away. #Romancelandia
