Lawmaker wants to make flag planting illegal at Ohio Stadium after Michigan fight The move comes after a fight broke out between Ohio State University and Michigan players after the Wolverines tried to plant a flag on OSU's field.

Why not just make it illegal for anyone to beat Ohio State? www.dispatch.com/story/news/p...

It's hard to believe Assad, a London-trained ophthalmologist, couldn't see this coming.

โ€ฆcan tell you that just because one family made your life super unhappy for a long time doesnโ€™t necessarily guarantee things canโ€™t get much worse going forward. Russia and Iran, et al. Looking like theyโ€™re getting out probably a better sign for hope than Assad going down. Point: think this through.

OK, everyone had their evening to celebrate. Now, letโ€™s think through why Syria just went through 13 years of civil war and whether the removal of one man and his family from the country is likely to shift those underlying causes. I only raise this because Syriaโ€™s next door neighbors in Iraqโ€ฆ 1/2

This is exactly the right framing.

Harrisโ€™ speech, the day after losing: โ€œnow Mr. Trump has a decision to make. If he continues to endorse his theory from 2020, then I as Vice-President can pick the winner I want on January 6. But if he says I canโ€™t, then he admits that theory was wrong, & heโ€™s an insurrectionist and disqualified.

As such, the term โ€œpolling missโ€ is a bit of a misnomer, as there is no particular reason to imagine even a large systematic discrepancy could have been accounted for in all imaginable instances.

There is no such thing as an accurate poll, because even if you could read the mind of every voter that will actually partake in an election in a location at a given instant, they could change it before they vote.

But isn't enforcing the law unfair to the lawbreakers and fans of theirs who want the crimes to succeed and the criminals to get away with it?

That argument has held a lot of sway in the US over the last four years, especially this year. I wish I were kidding.

Please do not make a decision on whom to vote for, or whether to vote, based on polling data.

See, was that so hard everyone? Yes more words can be used, but are more necessary?

Random clarification question for no one in particular: has the U.S. Democratic Partyโ€™s official position towards the legitimacy of Kenneth Starr investigation changed since the Clinton administration?

Junior PhDs/Reviewers in American academia, the vast majority having found themselves in that position through a combination of neglect, abuse, and gaslighting about their prospects, tend to reflect their treatment in those reviews. Reviewer #2 quality is your canary in the coal mine of academia.

My understanding is that editors at prestigious journals tend to use inexperienced junior reviewers as totally deniable hatchet-men/women for killing borderline manuscripts, itself necessitated by submission rates, which is the primary substantive explanation for the "reviewer 2" phenomenon.

As a junior reviewer, it made me sad when the manuscript management system *explicitly informed* me I was reviewer #2 on a number of occasions heading into the review. A least lie about to me about what you're using me for, prestigious journal.

Technically, I think the Senate would be able to choose Harris as VP to Trump in that scenario. It would require elector coordination to nominate Harris as Pres, deadlock 269-269, then nominate Harris as VP, and deadlock 269-269. Messy, but constitutional and more likely than Walz advancing.

Are we sure Bibi is still as Trump-curious as the past? In its way the IDF seems to at least be trying to put in the appearance of measuredness and deliberation that wouldn't be necessary if they weren't trying to avoid creating problems for Harris. They see their situation improving with Trump?

The thing I donโ€™t understand about the incel geek counterrevolution that dominates the other place is that more girls getting into comic books, video games and cartoons was like the best thing that ever happened to me before my 30s

Kamala Harris by far the stronger candidate. Not even a comparison at this point. Just saw her speak in Wisconsin. Trump doesn't compare.

This is smart. We desperately need emissions-free nuclear power. Minuscule, and manageable, risks of uncommon nuclear accident versus certain global warming. Take your pick. Nuclear energy is green energy.

Never forget: Trumpโ€™s entire plan to boost economic growth boils down to:

1) Lower energy prices dramatically by halting all funding of green energy; and

2) Raising tariffs on everything.

Itโ€™s the Underpants Gnomes Theory of Economic Growth.

All my weddings yield divorce
However fine my proffered horse

And kids? They scorn a fatherโ€™s need
For thanks and praise upon his seed.

Perhaps in God Iโ€™ll soothe this loss
Once He agrees that Iโ€™m the boss
