a man wearing a red hat with the letter p on it playing a guitar Alt: Jaco Pastorius wearing a red hat with the letter P on it playing a sunburst defretted Fender Jazz Bass

The Jimmy Irsay collection prices are outrageous! There's only one celebrity instrument I'd ever think about spending that kind of money on, even if I was a trillionaire, the Bass Of Doom. And I'd do exactly what Trujillo is doing with it. It's already in really good hands

I remember reading that in his biography. I decided right then and there that I wasn't going to buy a super nice upright. Mine is so old, that the original owner wrote his SSN inside the F hole to keep it from getting stolen. Now people would steal the SSN and leave the bass

Hearing Sly and Robbie for the first time. That wasn't Bob Marley reggae!

Upright basses are notorious for imploding due to the massive amount of tension on them. My own upright split the ebony tailpiece one day and it sounded like a shotgun blast. I'm curious how a relatively flat soundboard held up to that pressure. It's probably why we don't see any of them around

Day 10: A song about regrets

I love Smokey, but I'll post this version from Zapp, because the world needs to be reminded about Roger Troutman

It's "historic" for me. Historic, really? Schools will be teaching what happened on tonight's Survivor 50 years from now?

I have found so many other artists just by reading the liner notes in physical media. I miss that with streaming

Not sure. My state requires it and I haven't done it yet either. One of my side hustles pays me in pre-paid cards, so I'm waiting until I get one of those to do my verification. That way when the age verification company gets hacked, they won't have my actual bank card number

Does the whole rest of the funeral procession have to follow? Do they get to cut in front of everyone if they have their lights on and those little flags?

I have so much more respect for people that can admit "I made a mistake" or say "I don't know"

If you're taller, your legs are still getting wet anyway. My hair isn't even long enough to bother combing, so it dries quickly. And it feels like you're transporting puddle either to the office or the car as it drips. So unless it's a soaking rain/far walk, I don't use it. It's just water after all

There's something special about owning an instrument from someone who's passed, even if they're a stranger. Instruments something people mainly use either when they're happy or to feel better, so it always seems like you get good vibes out of them when you love and cherish the instrument too

A black Washburn HSS strat shaped guitar. It has chrome hardware, one volume, one tone, and a 5 way blade switch. The neck is a rosewood fretboard with small dot markers offset to the bass side

Picked up this cheap used Washburn from my local store, simply because I didn't have a Washburn yet (2nd oldest guitar co behind Martin). Took a while to clean and set up, but it plays nice and has lots of tonal options. The store was contacted about a family member's estate
