Anyone who was sacked from their job during the application process should not expect compensation and Peter Mandelson should be no different- he should now give that money to charity!
🌟 Pride in Place Update: Shaping the Future of Ellesmere Port
We’ve secured £20 million regeneration funding 💷 for Ellesmere Port — now we’re getting into the detail 📋.
Pride in Place is about turning investment into action 🚀 and ensuring our community leads the way 🗣️🏘️.
Almost everyone who has a child with Special Educational Needs would agree the system is broken. The Govt yesterday announced a white paper with proposals on how to fix it- I encourage people to engage with the consultation- details here- www.gov.uk/government/p...
My column in today’s Sunday Mirror - a call to Mancs (and others!) 👇🏻 @politics.mirror.co.uk
Please buy a copy of the paper too.
We are holding a coffee morning in New Ferry today- at the community centre in Windsor Close til 12-30- pop in and say hello!
Great to speak to young @The_TUC members today about all the fantastic measures in the Employment Rights Act that will massively improve workers protections
Good to speak to @unisontheunion activists this morning about all the fantastic measures in the Employment Rights Act that will make such a positive difference to their members and millions more people- showing the good things a Labour Government can do!
I spoke to Times Radio earlier about my reaction to the Peter Mandelson revelations- the police should be investigating and his title of "Lord" should be removed.
A very entertaining game at Vauxhall Motors FC today with them beating Clitheroe FC 4-2. Next home game Sat 14th Feb v Congleton KO 3pm.
The overriding consideration for the party should be who is best placed to win & represent the people of Gorton & Denton-no stitch ups, no 2nd guessing what might happen down the line. We need our best players on the pitch & the PM needs the best serving in his Government.
I welcome the news that the Government will look at a ban for under 16s on social media. However, as I said yesterday in the fireworks debate, I cannot reconcile the Govts refusal to do anything on decibel levels for fear of being seen as “nanny state” with the moves on mobiles.
Well said
@AngelaRayner
- time is well past for us to deliver on this promise to leaseholders- Is this Labour party for rich investors or hard-working leaseholders?Guardianhttps://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2026/jan/20/labour-party-rich-investors-hard-working-leaseholders
Really impressed hearing from both Blades Down and Let’s Be Blunt tonight with their own experiences and insights into how we reduce knife crime
If opponents of the BBC were trying to design a way to undermine the licence fee then it might look like this- the question is why are the BBC accelerating their own demise ? www.theguardian.com/media/2026/j...
Last week I had the opportunity to question Fujitsu about their role in the Post Office scandal and their pledge not to bid for new government contracts in light of their role in it- its become apparent that their promise not to do so isnt as clear cut as it would first appear..
"Very shortly" says @Keir_Starmer on new leasehold laws coming forward- he's going to get asked this at PMQs every week until it happens!
Another worrying report about the way those classed as self employed are treated and why we need proper protections in place- getting a pay cut for doing a job well is no way to treat someone

Out and about in Ellesmere Port this morning talking to residents with local councillor Lisa Denson

With thanks to The Olive Tree for a fantastic Christmas lunch for my hard working team, including the festively themed “Nakatomi Tower” burger. My office is now closed until Fri 2nd Jan, we will still monitor emails and calls for anything urgent. Merry Christmas!
Spotted this little fella in Rivacre Valley earlier
Good to be out with local councillors Kris Fisher & John Stockton this morning on a pre festive litterpick on the Stanney estate
I welcome news that there will be an independent investigation in to how foreign states are using their money to influence our politics- I hope that this will extend to include their activities on social media where I believe hostile foreign states are using their resources too
It really is time the House of Lords allowed us to get on with delivering our Employment Rights Bill and bring protections to millions of people in work
Well done to Cllr Lisa Denson and all her fantastic volunteers from Westminster families for putting on a great Christmas party at the Labour club today
2026 will be a big year. We in Labour must make and win the argument together that our progressive politics is changing peoples lives for the better. We must stay united, beat the politics of division and hate and overcome the challenges ahead.
