He just bought some candies for his kids recently, he'll pack a share of it for Yma alongside with his letter to Yjh. They're a local delicacy of the town below the mountain his sect resides in.

Thus start their letter exchanges ....and gift giving (or courting, some might say).

Kdj never imagined he would get a letter from Yjh, off all people. Mb this is the closest he will ever get to make Yjh speak longer than 3 sentences. How can he not take this opportunity Yjh has given him?

He smiles as he writes when he thinks of how Yjh will react to his reply.

The letter is as straightforward as the person who wrote it. And as caring if you take the time to get to know him.

Stories abt the places they visited and people they saved, the health of his Master, his Sago, Jhy, and his sister Yma. To news abt their friends from other sects.

(Exchanging letters, how nice... Asuka considers writing one for Izumi, her admirable Sahyung who joined Master Kyrgios' sect the same time as her and Michio, her dependable friend even way before that. He often praises her writings, she hopes this won't be a bother to him...)

Kdj recognizes that stamp and handwriting "Huh, maybe it is."

As Kdj's smile grows wider and fonder as he reads the letter, Asuka decides to leave the room and leave him alone. She stops Michio and the kids from looking for Kdj.

She thinks spring is finally coming for her Sahyung.

A week later, Asuka Ren gasps as she looks through the sect's letters "Sahyung, you got a letter from Yoo Joonghyuk-ssi!"

"Bold of them to use that guy's name to try to scam me." says Kdj.

"No I think this is really from him." she shows Kdj the stamped letter.

Kdj always has been the one to reach out and speak with him first. His chatters are a constant presence during their journeys, like the man himself in his life now. He used to find him aggravating, now...

He is curious how will Kdj's chatters be like written in ink.

This is his first time he writes a letter to anyone without any reason, Yjh doesn't know where to start. He glares at the blank paper in front of him.

But Kdj seems like he'll listen to anything Yjh talks abt (he does, he knows), his brush moves smoother when he thinks about that.

"You can try writing a letter to him, you know?" Yjh's martial sister, Jhy tells Yjh

"You're interrupting my training."

"And you're yearning too loud" she yawns, "It's been weeks."

Yjh ignores her last statement and sheathes his sword. Now where did he last put his stationery.

But it's not everyday, or even every week, they can meet face to face.

They never feel the far distance between their sects matter until now. Weird feeling to have for an ally? close acquaintance? Whatever they are.

Dj then get pair up to more future missions after that. Then they start making up their own reasons or take detours to stay together longer before going back to each of their sects.

They find out the other isn't the brooding asshole/rat bastard they first thought they were.

(My only reference to Murim story tropes is rotmhs, I think it's rare? for two different sects to pair their disciples like this. But bc Kyrgios and Ngmy are close I thought why not)

Ngmy is pleased with their results, Kyrgios thinks his disciple could find a better companion.

Not until they're strong enough to get their Masters' permission to go outside alone. One day Ngmy and Kyrgios pair them both to go out on a mission together.

Dj thinks it's going to be a disaster.

They find out they work well together, even with their constant bickering.

Because of their Masters, Ngmy and Kyrgios' close relationship, they've known each other since they're kids.

But due to the distance and how busy they are with personal training, they rarely come across each other when they're young.

(1/?) Murim AU Coming from different sects doesn't stop them from finding reasons to go out on missions/errands together (some say they're on dates)
