I am back after a long hiatus. Finished the first draft of my book, now I'm sitting on it for a while and working on another one while I lament the fact that I need to fix the whole thing lol
I'm pretty upset about Instagram and threads update, I don't like the idea of a companies TOS allowing forms of hate speech just because they want to protect people's right to be cruel and transphobic/racist.
I may or may not have been writing a few chapters of fanfic as a break from my main project.
I know it's great to read to keep your own writing sharp but how do you handle the inspiration that incites every time smh

I work on the pride team for one of the biggest corporations in Canada and we're going to be doing a book club drop in meeting monthly.
If anyone has suggestion for queer LGBTQ+ stories, fiction and non fiction that we could consider suggesting or highlighting in this club I'd appreciate!
Sometimes I don't know if it's the writing the entire book that's hard or the vulnerability and rejection that's harder lol.
It's worth it though
I'm fine with using chat gpt for things like "give me a writing prompt" but I'd rather develop my own skills when it comes to outlining overcoming writers block and the like. I enjoy those things and I don't find the craft is about being efficient or trying to outsource my skills
When I get like this I often start reading or watching a new show or book. Can help with the creativity and sometimes just giving yourself space and less pressure to be creative and make something helps it cook in u
I love when chapters have a short stanza from a poem in them. I always go back and reread the stanza after the chapter to really get the meaning there
Right? Dialogue is amazing. One thing I hated about this romance I loved when I was younger was how the author completely glossed over and skipped writing out the dialogue scene of her characters walking around a lake sharing childhood stories. She just wrote that they did that. I felt robbed

Mine has always been dialogue, I love using it to show how characters think and who they are, so much so I worry I write too much dialogue.
