That and updating the SELinux policy on Fedora to allow Qemu to do some of its stuff and not segfault.

Wasted so much time trying to fix the glitched Android emulator graphics in a VM with 3D acceleration enabled.

Turns out all it really needed was to set hw.gpu.mode=swangle in the AVD's config.ini

Turns out it was only minor progress. Now it simply takes longer to crash, but usually does when screen sharing.

If I don't use the Nvidia Broadcast camera it seems to work. So something about the way Zoom uses it needs to be fixed.

Finally found out how to fix Zoom crashing when it uses Nvidia Broadcast as the camera: use the 32 bit zoom client. Unfortunately that version is discontinued as of December 2025.

Using an AI agent is just vibe coding in a walled garden.

Can AI turn a 10x Developer into a 100x Developer?
YouTube video by Paul Dubs Can AI turn a 10x Developer into a 100x Developer?

I had some great conversations after my talk at Entwickler Summit 2025 in Berlin this year, and a common theme was the double-edged sword of AI coding assistants.

If you're thinking about how to strategically use AI in your development workflow, you might find it useful.

finally shipped xaibo! πŸš€
the AI agent framework I talked about at ML Con San Diego. built for radical transparency - you can see EVERYTHING your agent is doing. no more black boxes
truly modular too. swap any component, modify whatever you want

It was a pleasure sharing my experience with the audience and then discussing even more details about it with all the people that came up to me afterwards.

Elecom Huge with a black snooker ball

Elecom Huge with a black snooker ball

Welp, I did go down the rabbit hole because the stiction issue came up again.

I've ordered a black snooker ball to replace the original elecom red trackball.

But it didn't track at all. It had a gorgeous mirror finish.

Had to destroy the finish with 3000 grit sandpaper to make it work

I'm not using the handwriting recognition feature a lot. But I've tried it just now. It did pretty much perfectly, but I also have a pretty legible cursive writing style. The only mistake it made was where I actually mangled the letter a bit.

For the file size, it tells me about 1MB per page.

I let it dry for a couple of minutes and wiped it again in a microfiber cloth. And now the ball runs smoother than it ever was.

I guess I don't need to get into the rabbit hole of building my own Trackball with BTUs after all.

And that reminded me, how I face planted at a friends place right, because she had an incredibly slick spot on the floor after spraying her shoes with some water repellent spray.

I had some of that stuff around, so I sprayed it on a paper towel and wiped the trackball and bearings with it.

Tried some lubrication. I've had some WD-40 around, so I've put the least amount possible on it. It seemed to to help a tiny bit, but the feel was horribly oily on the finger tips. So I cleaned it off again.

Then I remembered what WD-40 stands for: Water Displacement.

Recently my trusty Trackball (Elecom Huge) become kind of sticky feeling. It used to be easy to move it just a tiny bit, even a pixel at a time.

Scoured the internet for suggestions. A cheap and easy thing to do seemed to change the, now 5 year old, ruby bearings to zirconium dioxide. Didn't help.

I find myself drawn to actually write more, because I like the sensation. The latency is noticeably better. Their obsession with making the screen as close as they can to the point of the pen also paid off in making it feel better.

I've missed the launch too and the 761,60€ price tag all in had me hesitate a couple of days.

As a long time A5 user, I find it to be an improvement in every possible way. Where the A5 was "like writing on paper", the Manta is essentially "writing on Japanese premium paper with a luxury pen".

Finally received the Supernote Manta (A5X2). It will be replacing my trusty old Supernote A5 that I've got 5 years ago. It served me well for thousands of hand written pages.

It is an expensive device, but the write feel is just like on paper. On the manta even more so.

Got all excited about the 5090, but then saw the fine print:
> FP8 on 40 Series, FP4 on 50 Series.

I suppose, I'll wait for someone more honest to run benchmarks before deciding whether it is really worth it.
