22.09.2024 15:32 β π 1156 π 227 π¬ 20 π 13Haunted School is incredible, one of my favourite things ever. A bunch of kids get trapped in, you guessed it, a haunted school and subsequently we get gross monster puppets, living anatomy dummies running around, giant bug mutations, a cameo by the slit-mouthed woman, and so much more!

Would you look at that. Orchard of the Owlfather took the 8th place slot in rankings for the Appx. N Jam out of the 227 entries. There were some very cool entries for the jam, so this was a pleasant surprise.

A plain page with dense and clean text along side a simple hex map with vibrant green and blue colors
A page with bold yellow orange and black coloring where heavy blackletter contrasts against simple text
A cover depicting a hippo in a spiked pith helm in front of a massive explosion with curvy psychedelic text reading "Bombast!" The collage has been rendered in black and white with a splash of color behind it
black letter text reading "HAHA! I'm using logistics!" in front of a edited piece of public domain art of a knight on a horse to turn it into a dithered/engraved look

A spread displaying a piece timeline of events as well as descriptions of locations formatted to look like posts on a social media site.

A bombastic page showing bright red distorted hexagons and text describing locations
Hey btw you can hire me to do layout on magazines and rpgs. Here is just a small collection of my works. More examples in the thread to come.

180. Tremors (dir. Underwood, 1990).
The perfect all-American summer creature feature, the perfect blend of viscera and comedy, elevated by the natural chemistry of an incredible cast of character actors.
It's the kind movie you watch with a cool beer and a bowl of pretzels.
I think it says something that the first VHSβ I ever bought were this and The Thing (before I ever had a vhs player).
It also says a lot about my horror writing as a whole.
83. Phenomena (dir. Argento, 1985).
Just think: without Dario Argento and Jennifer Connelly, we wouldn't have Clock Tower, and without Clock Tower the survival horror genre would have undergone a whole other evolutionary path entirely.
We owe Resident Evil and Silent Hill to those two.
55. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (dir. Tobe Hooper, 1974).
Mercury is in retrograde, gang.
40. "My Home Walk-Through" (dir. PiroPito, 2016).
Remember P.T.?
Imagine someone remade it, in live-action, as a 10min short film using nothing but practical effects, as a commentary on the widening gap in material wealth between generations since WWII. Seriously. It works.
13. Occult (dir. Koji Shiraishi, 2009).
Everyone's familiar with Noroi: The Curse. A fantastic film, to be sure, but Shiraishi didn't make just one great found footage horror flick, he made *several.* I'd go as far as to say Occult might even be on par.
Lo-fi cosmic horror, baby.
7. The Black Tower (dir. John Smith, 1987).
Picture a 20min slideshow where a narrator is driven into insanity by the spectre of an obsidian obelisk looming tall over everywhere he sees.
I swear, it's better than it sounds.
4. Lifeforce (dir. Tobe Hooper, 1985).
Is this a good movie? Absolutely not.
Is this a fun, batshit, one of its kind movie? 1000% yes. It's like an episode of Doctor Who fed enough viagra to kill a herd of elephants and locked in a room with nothing to read but Freud and Stoker.
3. The Invisible Man (James Whale, 1933).
I've already gone on over how much I love the "EVEN THE MOON IS FRIGHTENED OF ME" speech-
But the special effects are still fantastic nearly a century later, and Claude Rains-
