Game publisher run by game designer Steve Dee. Sydney, Australia. Social media is the problem but I need promotional streams to get games to people.

So characters can be built say with CLASS/RACE/BACKGROUND modules but you could also make a character in the same game with a CLASS/CLAN/POWER SOURCE module set, or a MODE/RACE/EQUIPMENT module set,

So like say there's a module called SPECIES and the core book has seven options. But anyone can add more to the SPECIES modules. You can't draw twice from that well for the same character (or maybe you can?) but you might be able to switch out your SPECIES slot for say a CLAN slot from vampire.

Pondering an idea of a very modular #ttrpg. Basically characters are made out of modules, much like Class and Race. You click any three modules together, boom, you got a character. The modularity is that anyone can add to the modules.

And it is: people who want to be technically correct are
A) Never technically correct
B) Never substantially correct
C) Assholes

TLDR - it's complicated. In many ways, the minimum wage is an improvement in terms of flat cash, but at the same time we're comparing it to someone working his ass off for a tyrant and he has much more purchasing power.

But there's a bigger issue here, too.

BUT let's also be clear: this is enough to OWN a comfortable four room house. OTOH, it's also not enough to pay for health care for Tiny Tim, and Bob's wife points out over and over that Bob's wage is too low and Scrooge is a miser.

okay so Matt isn't correct here. It is very hard to get a sense of money over history, but most people estimate that Bob was making around 100 pounds a week, about US$133, which gets us to $7K a year, about half minimum wage. Although Bob is working 60 hours a week...

as a kid growing up right-wing i regularly heard people express their desire for "a government so small I can drown it in the bathtub". imagine my surprise growing up to realize i was the only one who actually believed that.

If "AI" was as valuable as they say it is, they wouldn't be selling it to you. They'd be using it themselves in secret to make the next Minecraft, the next Avatar, the next Hello Kitty and then they'd sell that to you.

They're trying to sell you a sick goose, while pretending it lays golden eggs.

Right now, a lot of people are trying to pretend that the ever-encroaching racist authoritarianism is nothing to do with regular, normal conservatism, but they're exactly the same thing. It's jackboots all the way down.

feels like yet again time to mention that the *videogames* industry (that's a creative industry, which people do creative degrees in) brings in more than twice the amount to the British economy as the fishing and steel industries *combined*

Not only is AI killing the planet and enriching the worst people alive, it's turning dumbass gen xers into the worst improv troupe you've ever seen "haha show me Saddam Hussein eating pasta" "lol now do Bill Clinton buying a used car"

It's a well-established global phenomenon: secret police organizations always recruit losers, mediocrities, people who can't succeed in a competitive environment, whether bureaucratic, academic or commercial. These are people who will follow orders and engage in depraved, violent conduct when asked.

We were recently contacted by one of our members about a publisher missing a series of royalty payments on a popular game. We reached out to the publisher on behalf of the designer and were able to get them paid within a few days.

They believe they will never be out of power and relatedly, even if they eventually are, there will be no accountability.

Refusal to openly, credible, emphatically threaten them with it isn't just a failure on the principle of the matter for what should happen then. It worsens the situation now.

Um, ICE just coldly shot an unarmed PRIEST in the head w a pepper ball when he (and everyone around him) clearly posed no threat.

For the crime of … complaining about government policy.

A house fire is significantly different from a pile of oily rags next to an open flame, yet also related. But it seems Will gets up every morning and decides to pick a fight instead of saying (on any issue) "both these things are true"

One of the things that conservative and far right people did during and after WW2 was act like the nazis were nothing to do with them, as a way to distance themselves from the losing side and make nazism seem aberrant and unusual. TLDR we're not normalising Trump, we're denormalising conservatives.

*To quote a guy on Mastodon:

We went from "we will deport the worst of the worst" to "we will deport anyone here illegally" to "we will round up anyone who looks wrong" to "people who live in cities are the enemy" essentially overnight.

I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

Conservatives romanticize the Confederacy because no matter how much time passes, the Confederacy will never be 18 years old.

Another effort to track ICE raids was just taken offline People over Papers was removed by Padlet, the platform it was built on, yesterday.

β€œPeople over Papers, a crowdsourcing project that maps sightings of US immigration agents, was taken offline yesterday by Padlet, the collaborative bulletin board platform on which it was built. It’s just the latest ICE-tracking initiative to be pulled by tech platforms in the past few days.”
