Therapists figure out if a kid is trans the same way they figure out if they're depressed. They ask questions, maybe using a formal scale to quantify how kids compare to similar kids.

Trans kids don't "self diagnose" any more than a depressed kid who tells their therapist "I'm depressed."

The kid saying it isn't the final word, but it is part of understanding what's going on with the kid, and probably accurate in most cases bc kids know what these words mean.

From a Genspect article... We all agree that autogynephilia is a paraphilia that can cause dreadful harm to women. How to tackle this issue is where the conflict lies. Some people believe that all AGP men should never be allowed to speak; nor should they be allowed to show their face in public; indeed, according to many, there is no space where AGP men should ever be allowed to exist. Put simply, some people believe that they should either hide themselves for ever more or they should die.

My interest in this “Democrats” group was piqued when the Koch-funded FIRE, which defends right-wing interests, rushed to its side in Illinois.

So I took a look at what makes this group “Democats.” Their public filings and website provide no substantiation. We asked them directly … and got no reply

Babe, wake up. The Atlantic is doing the "they're transing the gays" conspiracy theory.

I find it baffling that, just from a purely cynical standpoint, they don’t just adopt the default position of “if Trump does it, it’s bad.” They’ll be right 98% of the time and attacking your opponent weakens them

you can tell that this isn't a real problem, because if it was this would be written by someone it happened to and not someone who it didn't happen to saying "but if it did that would have sucked."

Jesse singal literally wrote a whole article about an imaginary me and then asked people to be furious at his fantasy version of me.

The only gay people the Atlantic has ever thought might need protection are effeminate gay "boys" who they've decided need protection from the trans agenda, and historically, that's not what gay kids actually need protection from.

This fear lives only in the minds of straight cis journalists.

Labour is what happens when the nominally "center-left" party stands for absolutely nothing and just shifts more and more to the right in a foolish attempt to woo voters to their right: a massively unpopular party that's going to get absolutely crushed... and right-wing policies.

How to win in November

It is so damning of US news media that so many outlets refuse to just straight up say that Senator Tim Sheehy assaulted an activist.

He did not "help" Capitol police. They did not need his help. He wanted to assault the guy and did. He should resign.

I don't have a problem with Tim. But I do think it is deleterious that so many smart people spend so much time on X, which has essentially become an algorithmically and AI-optimized far-right MAGA message testing and propaganda machine. People assume X posts represent the masses, but they don't!

A man with the government has been at the last two hearings relating to the contempt claim. Both times, he sat in the section of the courtroom open only to parties and counsel. Although not at counsel’s table, Littman and Jean Lin, the other Justice Department lawyer present at both hearings, has repeatedly consulted with him during both hearings. After today’s hearing — and after not being able to figure out for myself who he was after the last hearing — I asked him who he was. I had my press pass visibly displayed and identified myself as a reporter. He said he didn’t want to do that. I suggested that he must be a government official or employee, sitting where he was, and, if so, I asked incredulously if he really was not going to tell a reporter at a hearing who he was. He said no. Then, the people leaving — myself included — got to the elevator. Littman, Lin, mystery man, and two other people sitting with mystery man on the government side of the courtroom during the hearing on Wednesday were getting into the elevator. Some of them were already in the elevator. When I stepped in, mystery man said he would wait for the next elevator. Everyone else then got out of the elevator. Left in the elevator alone, I looked at these five adults — all of whom I believe have to be government employees, hence, paid by the public and allegedly working for the public — and was some combination of bemused and appalled. “You are all ridiculous,” I simply said. The door closed.
