Just straight up state-sanctioned terrorism.
The hard right, populated disproportionately by misogynists, predators and transphobes, wants to control our bodies. The ultimate tyranny promoted by the most evil among us
Horrific. Georgia police charged a woman with murder after she allegedly used misoprostol. Hospital may have reported her.
@pregnancyjust.bsky.social calls it “an unprecedented murder charge for an alleged abortion, even though no law in the state of Georgia permits such a charge." bit.ly/46W2Ezb

There are multiple lawsuits and pieces of legislation pending across the country that would restrict access to or ban the abortion pill.
They rest on many of the same arguments that are not supported by science, so I assembled some of the most common ones and what the facts are here:
Seriously. The nyt now sells itself as a package — of news, games, consumer reports, recipes etc. you buy one, you buy them all.

Weiss and Sulzberger are in a race to the bottom. Both engage in obsessive, vendetta-like “reporting” that advances a right-wing view
The nyt, if you remember, used a eugenicist as its “source” for racist nothing-burger attack on Mamdani last year. The nyt withheld the source’s name, Jordan Lasker, and lied to readers by calling him an “academic” tho he had no record of scholarship.

“This discriminatory legislation is explicitly unwanted by a large percentage of Iowans. Nearly a third live in a city or county where local anti-discrimination laws protect trans Iowans. In the last year, countless Iowans have turned out to show support for their trans friends and neighbors.”
I wrote about how the conservative Supreme Court and federal judiciary are constructing a dual state for trans people. A system that enables arbitrary and unchecked power to push trans people out of society.

Last week, Iowa doubled down on last year's removal of trans peoples' civil rights protections by also disallowing cities from enacting their own protections.

Polymarket, Kalshi and all the rest of these prediction markets need to be wiped off the face of the earth. They provide absolutely nothing of value and are corrupting everything they touch.
1. Pressure is intensifying from Trump to bypass the filibuster over anti-trans and voter disenfranchisement provisions.
Cornyn, one of the biggest historical Republican supporters of the filibuster, has now flipped on it.
Thune still says he doesn't have the votes to do so.
My latest story.

Fun fact: Tim Walz has not gone along with sports betting. Sports betting is illegal in Minnesota, even at tribal casinos.
Brilliant move here by Platner to put this op-ed in Cruz’s hometown paper and it would be so great if ANY other Democrats (who didn’t have a Nazi tattoo past) were this good at their job

As I’ve been saying for six years, you cannot decide to shut off empathy in just one lil area (all of disabled and vulnerable people.) Endangering people for your convenience and comfort is a drug you do not do recreationally.
Once you have decided a group’s survival is not worth your inconvenience- well, look around at other things, other people who inconvenience you - surely they can’t be worth much more. Surely you are the human, and they are the problem.
The #TransRightsReadathon starts next week & runs from the 17th-31st of March.
Not sure what to read? Here are 20 trans & non-binary books we stock that are well worth a read this year – all available at proud-geek.co.uk

Imagine a newsroom that says a journalist of [fill in the blank] group is barred from having any role or even say in covering news about [fill in the blank] group. That is the nyt today re trans ppl.
It rightly does not apply this standard to other groups. It’s the exemplification of prejudice

HOLY SHIT.
A dark money group, hidden behind a bunch of shell companies, is paying influencers thousands of dollars PER POST to attack @katmabu.bsky.social on social media a month before her election.
Thank you to the people who declined the money and went forward with this. So who's behind this?

With the NYT, it’s what they don’t write as much as what they do. They covered Biden’s health issues with excellence: Trump’s health issues not at all.
If you thought it was bullshit when the WaPo took Felicia Sonmez off a sexual-assault story because she said she'd once been sexually assaulted, you should think this is bullshit too
