Oh yeah, also on the topic of Desktop mode, I've found that Firefox works better on Linux in general, plus you can install uBlock that way too. LibreOffice works great for editing documents, Krita for drawing. KdenLive or Davinci resolve for video, all from the Discover store.

Makes modding games a breeze to do that, especially Minecraft (via Prism launcher)

It does Silk it really good, add a bluetooth kb+m and a stand and you can use it pretty comfortably as a 'laptop'. In Desktop mode, you can press the start menu, in the side bar scroll down to lost-and-found, right click Nested Desktop and add as non-Steam game, now you can use Desktop in Game mode

I love the Deck, but expectations should always be tempered - it won't play all multiplayer games (esp. with anti-cheat) and it struggles with most UE5 games. Non-steam games always take some tinkering to get going. That being said, I lived out of it for the first half of college, it can do a lot.

Really depends on what you're trying to get out of it. Green and orange check marks usually run without tinkering, more demanding games like Helldivers 2 tend to work out of the box, but need every bit of tinkering to squeeze out a playable framerate - even with a maxed out undervolted OLED model.
