strong 2nd this; it feels kind of decadent to be like "PAIN AT DA PUMP????" when there's still bombs flying

I would love it if people expressed interest in the nature of consciousness and the self but noticing a lot of people that only seem to care when it involves a slave that's your only friend and I think that might color the debate a bit.

A DOGE staffer assigned to the National Endowment for the Humanities to flag grants for "DEI" tries to explain what "DEI" is. This deposition is part of a lawsuit by the @acls1919.bsky.social, @historians.org and @modernlanguage.bsky.social.

A couple years ago my wife and I had a big unexpected expense, and took out a personal loan to get it off our credit card from a co. that markets getting out of debt. We're close to paying it off now, a couple years ahead of schedule, and now they are *bombarding* us with advertising for more debt.

James Talarico: No one's ever asked me about the cost of housing. The only thing the media wants to ask me about are trans athletes.

The only minority destroying this country is the billionaires. Trans people are 1% of the population. We are focused on the wrong 1%.

These asshole twerps with no brains or education from DOGE really did use ChatGPT to find NEH grants to terminate ILLEGALLY - ruining hundreds lives and destroying hundreds of the greatest humanities projects and partnerships of our time. I’m overwhelmed with rage and anger all over again.

It is an existential imperative that we begin a serious global dialogue about how β€˜experts’ as the media uses the term, consistently lag behind us laymen when it comes to Knowing Some Bullshit When We See It.

68% of American Jews support the US-Israel war against Iran, survey finds - Jewish Telegraphic Agency The results suggest U.S. Jews are more supportive than Americans overall but less than Israeli Jews.

The @jta.org headline is simply wrong; please amend. JPPI itself acknowledges that it polls "connected" Jews, not Jews overall, meaning disproportionally more denominationally affiliated Jews and those who've lived in Israel, and less intermarried Jews. www.jta.org/2026/03/09/i...

so much to say here but the main thing is really that even highly educated Americans don't really *get* that we are actually at war and that war is real

people have got to realize that we are not getting Medicare for All without taxing the middle class. we are not getting free child care without taxing the middle class. we are not getting better schools and free college without taxing the middle class.

I make $95,000 a year. raise my taxes, please.

Here’s an actual news article on the topic. It supports the idea that the issue was outdated data, but not that the target was selected by gen AI. www.npr.org/2026/03/04/n...

He Was a Critic of the N.B.A. Players’ Union. Now He’s Leading It.

As NBPA pres Fred VanVleet worries about what sports gambling is doing to players, particularly since money from gaming companies is only about 1% of BRI. "It’s not substantial enough to make it worth any of this. For us or for the league." My story on his new role: www.nytimes.com/2026/03/04/b...

Excuse me.

Oh, God. Oh, no. Holy shit. Get away from me.

I was wondering if you knew where the bathrooms are.

Look, I'm ... it's not a crime to scroll through your high school girlfriend's Instagram account. We remained friends after high school! I was at her wedding! It's only natural to see how she's doing.

I'm in a bit of a hurry, and I'm afraid that if I choose the wrong corridor, I'll be late for my train.

I think they're down that way, but I'm actually from out of town. Please stop talking to me.

Real quick, though. I agree that it's natural to be interested in an old friend, but aren't you afraid about the message you might be sending by liking a picture of her at the beach from 2015?

If that did happen, and I'm only going off your word, it was probably an accident. They put the ... scroll bars or whatever ... close to the thumbs up button. People have been complaining about that for years. I've been complaining about that for years.
