In other words, paper looks and feels cheap while veneer is still actually wood. Veneer doesn't work well for fiber board and vice versa for paper but now I see where you're getting at

I like veneer for this purpose. Paper makes sense with fiber boards because it's otherwise harder for them to hold together or have a protective surface because of lack of structure but it's otherwise a cheap solution for anything else

My own engagement has decreased on original posts but that's mainly from a lack of focus on making it interesting and lack of posts. There's plenty of engagement site wide, even if users don't necessarily stay for long, so it's far from dead
