what is the largest animal you are confident you could expel, singlehandedly, from a medium-size bookshop?

RULES:
- you have no resources beyond what is available in the shop
- you must remain more or less uninjured
- bookshop has 2 floors; animal is on ground floor, you can choose where you begin

Maybe a frog... (auto correct kept insisting I meant "dog", but no, definitely not). Although they can hop into small spaces I might not reach...

When Israel says their violence is done to protect all Jews and make the world safer for us, we can only look at incidents like this and see that is obviously not true. They’re making it more dangerous for us EVERYWHERE.

In a more just world the fact that a man with a loaded gun rammed his car into a synagogue and got out to shoot everyone before being taken down by security would *at the very least* be a trending topic On Here but y’all can’t seem to muster more then a few re-posts.

Impressive! I'm happy with my 0.0031. I definitely enjoyed the comments it gave, though 😅

I moved to Australia in August 2016. It wasn't fun for a while there, but it was very cool. I got to chat with my parents back home about this news article or that one, and we could figure out what was being suppressed in the US even back then🤦🏼‍♀️

There's a few big ones, like ACD and Universal (formerly Alliance), but direct ordering is often just fine (as long as the publisher does wholesale). Occasionally, the minimum order quantity or minimum cost for free shipping can be high.

If you don't already have puzzles, those could be fun, too!

We'll occasionally get those people, too, but probably a lot fewer than you because I work at a board game store, and I just have to wonder what's going on in their head. Like, they walk into a store that specifically sells one type of thing; why would they think there's no market for it? SMH

And now we’d like to present to you our multi-film gazillion dollar franchise on emotional regulation and feelings.

And, unfortunately (and something I'm sure you know better than I), scientists are much better at figuring out a changed surname than a changed first name, so publishing under your current surname, especially if your new surname is the double-barrel style, would be fine

I don't have first-hand experience, but my thought for myself was always to let my legal name be "distinct" from my author name. If you want to change your name and have the same surname as your partner, don't let worries about your author name stop you. Keep those two thoughts separate.

I think it's pretty telling, though, that one of those dudes didn't actually say "no".

She’d Never Changed Her Gender Marker. Kansas Invalidated Her License Anyway. — Assigned A trans Kansas resident recently changed her name but not her gender marker on her license, fearing what Kansas may do if she did. The Kansas DMV still flagged her ID.

This story, from @natezuke.bsky.social, is absolutely wild. A trans woman who never changed her gender marker was issued a letter invalidating her license. At the DMV they cut up her license, which had an "M" marker.

My only question is are the claws out?

My cat uses her claws when bopping dogs (and sometimes her best frenemy as well), although she's learned which ones don't "need" to be bopped

A poll showing the Democrats are viewed as elitist by 43% of people while Republicans are viewed as elitist by 60%. It also shows that only 31% of people view Dems as tough, and 56% view Republicans as tough. 60% of people view Republicans as extreme and only 42% view Dems as extreme.

A lot of obvious stuff in this poll (people want Dems to act with more conviction and stop tearing their ACLs trying to reach across the aisle), but the thing I learned is that Republicans are viewed as the elitist ones now! Run with that! Usain Bolt with that shit!

Okay I have the most insane story from the beer garden yesterday. We are open from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and yesterday we were busy from minute one. It was finally starting to slow down a little at 6:00 when a big airport shuttle type van pulled in to our tiny parking area.
