Congrats, looks fantastic. The TOC on its own is enough to spur debate

You guys know so much more about this than I do, but I’ll think on it—and will check out this one

I’d substitute “Sir” for “Hey”

if you have a friend named Paul a couple times a year you have to say to them “Hey Paul, hey Paul, hey Paul, let’s have a ball”—they expect it

a total CD band, which is perhaps counterintuitive

wish I had a physical copy of that, kinda expensive

having narrow common reference points puts music on the level of film, sports, TV, politics and supports the social media-fueled discussion-based media industry

and there’s still so much industry support across the board. I think there’s a huge piece (or book) to be written about how the music released in the late 60s and 70s became “standard.” I think it’s partly because it facilitates discussion, it’s hard to talk music when no two people hear same stuff

It was both—transatlantic flights were very expensive, it was like half price, and my friend and I were just going to Europe for 2 months, didn’t care where. We lucked out and got Amsterdam. We stayed at his dad’s place in western mass, called airhitch daily, then took the bus to JFK

In 1993 I flew to Europe via a company called Air Hitch. You called them on the phone and bought a pass and they would find you an empty seat within a one-week window. You didn’t know when you were leaving or where you were going, and it was $140 each way. Somehow, it worked

Wow amazing - I used to live half a block from Martyr’s, so cool that Alejandro played there. This was before I moved to Lincoln Square, used to hit a record shop called Deadwax another block down

I like the band and the jams in Flo & Eddie years, but never warmed to any of the comedy//story-song stuff, that is my least favorite Zappa (that I've heard)

Yeah honestly mine would too—I was trying to show as much range as I could with this. 66 - 74 has most of what I need

I liked it a lot—a bit heavy on the fast cuts for my taste, I like to sink in a little more. But archival footage is amazing, and yeah the Everyday People section, so good

One thought, and maybe I would have reblogged this back on tumblr in the day, is that the 2000s was the first time large amounts of US fans/writers could be in daily conversation with UK fans/writers, via boards and blogs, and this amplified and expanded the power of “indie”….

emo(ish) songs I like 1 - for aesthetic and demographic reasons I never much cared for emo, enjoy a few things but much actively repels me. Love this song tho youtu.be/BuOWtICv0tE?...
