Trump: "We have to get Republican votes. That's all. We have the majority...We will get it through because the Republicans are sticking together."

Trump said that he wants a shutdown so that he can get rid of programs the Democrats like and fire Democrats working for the government on three separate occasions today:

Jimmy Kimmel: "A government threat to silence a comedian the president doesn't like is anti-American."

Sarah Matthews: "For so long conservatives fought for the right of freedom of speech, or freedom to refuse service. And then you have Pam Bondi going on TV and saying she's going to go after Office Depot...Trump has eroded American conservatism."

Sarah Matthews: "The reason Trump is going after The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal is because they're reporting on the Epstein files...I'm really encouraged to see The New York Times stand up and say 'No, we're not going to take this, we're going to fight back.'"

Sarah Matthews: "I respected [Charlie Kirk's] willingness to engage in debate with those who strongly opposed him, to have hard conversations in a civil way...We seem to have lost all sense of respect and civility in this country, and a large part of that is because of Trump."

Tim Dillon: "If I had a dispute with DoorDash and Kash Patel was investigating it, would I get the DoorDash credit?...Kash Patel would not be able to secure my credit of $11.90...What organization could Kash Patel run credibly? I don't know."
