this Jamaican / Cork accent viral thing is giving me life. the idea that there's a connection between Irish servants & educators in the Caribbean with modern day Patois is wild. I just hear a lad from Cork and all these Jamaicans are hearing their own tongue. awesome

totally, it's not perfect, but a really great game with super world building and cinematic vibe. the fact that they managed to get pretty close to that pre-vis trailer is genuinely snatching victory from the claws of defeat.

the united states government's almost pathological framing of their violence as liberation is so ghoulish. illegal, deadly, evil airstrikes, a senseless war announced in the middle of the night, and still the framing is "liberation". it's sickening

tuned into mainstream American news stations to see what the deal is and of course they're reporting it as business as usual, and not insane colonial overreach with no logical pretense. not sure why I'd hoped for more. this country has a deep sickness.

When I went to Tehran in 2018 for a game conference I hung out with game nerds, music weirdos, and queer folks with tattoos and colored hair, just like I do here. We got vegetarian food and watched goofy uncles play basketball in the park. I sure hope they can live to see a better day.

That last part is very important to understand.

There is no scenario where a regime change war waged by the US leads to a democratic transition for Iran.

It's either the same regime with minor changes in leadership and policy, or a power vacuum that leads to a civil war and long term instability.
