I found out today that there is a mid credits scene in the last episode of season 4 of Bridgerton and enjoyed watching. It’s genuinely delightful and beautiful

Also a bit weird that Mrs Bridgerton is setting up the Avengers Initiative but excited to see where it goes

I’m sure a lot of cis gay people say “it’s great that there’s more media and resources for gay kids now so they can accept themselves sooner” but when trans people ask for the same we are corrupting kids. There’s no reflection on their part that het bad actors say the same about gay resources

Honestly it’s so messed up that he gets an article on the hypothetical question of “well if we had access to gender affirming resources when I was a child I MIGHT have questioned, oh no 😲” when lots of trans people went through so much trauma as children because we knew but could never articulate

What's scary about this story is the surveillance it hints at. This trans woman had changed her name, legally, but chose not to change her gender marker. She was apparently flagged in the DMV system as trans and her license was invalidated under a law that supposedly only concerned gender markers.

She could just talk to someone who transitioned as a child with access to HRT who is a grown ass adult now about their experience with gender affirming care. Or talk to one of the two trans women who competed at the Olympics about her experience.

As you said, she wants to be ignorant

Sarah Vaci is a "gender critical" artist who set out 4 years ago this month to create 100 portraits of "female detransitioners." To date, worldwide, she hasn't even found 100 to take part in her project, and at her current rate, it will take her 10 to 15 years to finish.

I hate that the green party’s landslide success is seen as “tactical voting” by the lib dems and not “the party with the best policies and attitude”. Seems other parties aren’t gonna learn

Maybe she doesn't think it will happen that way. Maybe she thinks that she'll just be "politely" approached and she can just be like "oh no I'm not one of *those*" and people will just take her at face value. Maybe she's looking to cash in on writing articles "this club accused me of being a MAN"

I think it is worth noting that she is trying to set up a world that makes it normal to challenge and assault women who don't fit to a specific feminine beauty standard and that, by all accounts, that would likely hurt her ability to navigate and exist in the world

I’m not a strong person and so I have to admit that the continued demonization and criminalization of trans people in this country and beyond is causing me severe pain every single day

That’s it. For as long as I’ve been transitioning I’ve thought about how much my clothing choices are because I want to read as a woman vs the style I actually like. If in a universe where my body reads more feminine then would my choices be different?

It’s nuts because cis people often have unsatisfactory sex lives and struggle to maintain relationships but it doesn’t seem to be a criteria to exclude them from existing

Yup and then when the kids in the trial report that puberty blockers are non beneficial to them the government get to state their ban is justified

You tell someone that trans teen suicides have shot up in the last years they might have seen an article debunking that. You can tell them that there is data supporting it and they’ll just be like “right the government wouldn’t just ignore data like that”

But that’s it. From someone reading the bbc they just see headlines that support the anti trans narrative and literally never see articles talking about all the ways in which the government and media is going out of their ways to harm trans people
