It's just so hopeless that "allies" are like "we can't put pressure on parliament or inconvenience cis women so here is a way we've worked out how to work within the transphobic framework we were given. That's true but the WI could also just say "in light of current UK law and potential lawsuits we've opened up the institute to people of all genders but ask men to continue to self exclude. We don't want it to be this way but advocate for parliament to fix the law"

Instead they picked exclusion

It's dignity and respect and regret and heavy hearts as we're told we can't play the sport and we can't join the clubs and we can't be recognized in law, not really. It's fully rejecting that trans people are meaningfully trans; it is entrenching into society and law that really it's just dress up

You don't even need to do it with dignity and respect; you just say those words while you strip people of their ability to exist

"utmost regret and sadness" will be the driving words behind the segregation and exclusion of trans people from public life while cis people still just move on

I think you might be misinterpreting my statement and I’m sorry for the confusion. I’m not saying it’s easy to be trans or to declare that to the world. I’m saying that trans girls should be included, as a girl really but failing that, as a gender minority

I’m honestly not sure I follow. The trans girl “decides” by declaring herself trans and she’s trans and therefore eligible

Could it be opened up to girls and gender minorities then to allow non binary kids (and trans boys though they might prefer boy scouts) in while still allowing all girls in and not permitting cis boys

It’s just trans girls should be able to get to be kids again too

I do wonder if even if they kept “girl” but said it was open to girls and gender minorities then it would be enough but I guess just excluding trans girls feels the safer option for them so they are ok doing that

At any time they could just give editor guidelines to refer to trans women as trans women and just update and use that language in all their articles. Saying we didn't tell our staff to do this but their staff continuing to do so is a choice they are making (also telling of the staff they employ)
