On a bed of moss there are 4 specimens of the same mushroom. The two on the ends are overturned, showing the "teeth" all hedgehog mushrooms have. The other two are showing their cpas, which are an even darker violet color.

The Violet Hedgehog (Hydnellum fuscoindicum) is a lovely little mushroom that grows around hemlock trees!

It can be used to dye fibers a wonderful blue or green, depending on the length of time the mushrooms soak.
