I admit that had a strong impulse, during the cone days, to fit her body and limbs in tin foil and make her into Space Carol, but my better self resisted that urge.

Our wee beastie Carol in her onesie. She has a cone for a week while a cut on her leg healed, but as the stitches were removed, she went into full goblin mode & negated 7 days of enconement. With the cut all glued shut, she gets to spend some time in a onesie, which is much more stylish than a cone.

How philosopher Shannon Vallor delivered the year's best critique of AI The author of 'The AI Mirror' worries about what we're doing to our moral muscles as we grow more reliant on machines.

Thanks to @alexpasternak.bsky.social and @fastcompany.com for this lovely interview and review of The AI Mirror, part of their AI20 (with @abeba.bsky.social, @sashamtl.bsky.social + others)

Self-driving Waymo cars keep SF residents awake all night by honking at each other Haunted by glitching algorithms, self-driving cars disturb the peace in San Francisco.

So many great sci-fi stories we could be living in but of course it had to be the very stupidest one

In London for a few days. Met up with Dean Brown (NZ’s Little Skull & Nova Scotia) last night at Cafe OTO where we saw Arto Lindsay with Melvin Gibbs, a remarkably wonderful set, both elegantly beautiful and beautifully harsh.

I just read the text this refers to and I am still trying to recover. Be warned: the utter meaningless of it is a powerful injection attack that will paralyze your frontal lobe for 3-5 minutes

The Gladeyes

Not sure they even exist anymore, but The Gladeyes from Auckland, New Zealand started I think as teenagers making homemade CDr’s that planted them somewhere between The Carpenters and The Velvet Underground, over time they developed into something equally appealing…

I just discovered that The AI Mirror is now available for preorder!

It was five years in the making, and it hasn’t sunk in yet that it’s real. But I think it’s the most important work I’ve ever done.
