A woman who was 20 weeks pregnant fed her toddler son raw milk. He contracted Campylobacter and then passed the infection to her; she progressed to sepsis, and had a miscarriage.

She is suing the business that sells the raw milk, saying she didn’t know the risk.

Hospital Financial Health and Provision of Obstetric and NICU Services This cohort study analyzes the association of hospital financial health with provision of obstetric and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) services.

Worse hospital financial health was associated with decreased likelihood of providing perinatal services.

There was a moderate correlation with higher percentage of births in DSH-receiving hospitals and reduced maternal mortality.

RFK Jr. doesn’t like that a study of every child born in Denmark from 1997-2018 showed no link between aluminum in vaccines and 50 adverse health outcomes. This study included more than a million kids.

RFK Jr. wants the study retracted.

The journal, which is a very prestigious one, refused.

Something else that would help is a simple literature review of "Has this question already been answered?" Simply answering the same question in a different population is not always sufficient, especially if the answer is well established.

All excellent ideas! Journals have started to use iThenticate but it's not enough. We need something to help separate the wheat from the chaff. We also need people to respond to requests for review, and for reviewers to understand what they are accepting.

I have a tendency to agree. I think the days of "do it for the good of science" are over.
