Hospital Mergers Push Pregnant Mom Care Farther Hospital mergers lead to higher commercial health care prices, without corresponding improvements in quality.

Do hospital mergers change where Medicaid patients deliver their babies?

New @jamahealthforum.com research finds mergers were associated with more urban patients delivering at safety-net hospitals and rural patients traveling farther for care. https://bit.ly/4b9aoPE

KFF Health Tracking Poll: Health Care Costs, Expiring ACA Tax Credits, and the 2026 Midterms | KFF Looking ahead to the midterm elections, health care costs are the public’s top economic concern, and many voters say the issue will have a major impact on their vote. On health care issues, including the cost of health care, voters currently trust Democrats more than Republicans, though neither party has an advantage on addressing the overall cost of living. Following the expiration of the ACA enhanced tax credits, two-thirds of the public say Congress did the “wrong thing” by not extending them.

The cost of health care, including paying for health insurance and out-of-pocket expenses, tops the list of the public’s economic anxieties, rising well above other necessities.

Pastor Steven Tendo fled persecution and torture in Uganda and has lived peacefully in Vermont for many years.

ICE violated his due process and detained him as he was leaving work.

ICE should be focused on violent criminals, not terrorizing our communities.

As measles spreads in South Carolina, RFK Jr’s allies work to gut vaccine laws Activists who dispute safety of vaccines are pushing to limit immunization requirements in schools

“Epidemiological data is being used politically and selectively to create a scapegoat for routine infection rates that rise and fall…” says RFK Jr.’s BFF, Leslie Manookian.

No, Leslie. Measles was eliminated in the U.S.

By Tesla's own math, it reveals that its robotaxis are 4x worse at driving than humans, with redactions hiding even more details | Fortune By NHTSA standards, the Tesla Robotaxis are 8x worse than human drivers.

The RoboTaxi is roughly as safe as a brand-new teen driver. Which doesn't offer a lot of confidence, given that motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15-20-year-olds in the US, with thousands of teen drivers dying each year.

The costs of this Iran war debacle will likely be more than the cost of extending the ACA health insurance subsidies.

If you asked Americans, which do you want: another war in the Middle East or lower health care costs at home, is the margin 90 to 10? 95 to 5?

Measles outbreaks are costing the U.S. millions of dollars. The true losses can't be counted. As vaccination rates decline, the economic consequences will increase, research suggests.

The first concern with measles is, of course, the devastating health impact.

But this article does a great job of explaining the economic costs.
