A lovely start to the week: welcoming sunny skies in Villefranche-sur-mer for the GdR #ChemEcol meeting. Looking forward to giving a Keynote tomorrow and learning about the aspects of the #LanguageOfLife my french colleagues are currently working on. Big thanks to Eva Ternon for the invitation!

Really enjoyed the #E-NICHE Annual Meeting in Évora (PT). Great #networking, nice #catch-up with colleagues, new insights from across the field of #ChemicalEcology & the possibility to highlight our set of methodologies to assess the sensitivity of #CommunicationCompounds to #EnvironmentalChange. 🧪

Super excited to embark on a #NewScientificAdventure as part of the newly funded SFB-TRR #CONCENTRATE! With an interdisciplinary team from @unigreifswald.bsky.social, @unibremen.bsky.social & partners we want to understand what stabilises #MarineGlycans & makes them store carbon in our #oceans.

Very good summary and outlook on what 430ppm (and rising) means for our seas & oceans - bearing in mind that this adds on top of specific local conditions on macro- and microscale that set the scene for all biological and chemical interactions.

Anja sitting at the microscope checking our diatom cultures “Enjoy the little things! That might just be the perfect motto for my research.” Janina preparing our diatom medium under the clean bench by carefully pipetting stock solutions to the artificial seawater. “For me, the planning and preparation phase is always exciting and full of anticipation for the results.”

🧪Celebrating #InternationalWomensDay2025 by introducing 2 amazing #EarlyCareerScientists of the #DIALMOD team uncovering effects of metabolites in diatom biofilms: @anjaruhl.bsky.social & Janina Barkowsky!
