A high-dynamic range photo showing waves against a stretch of Hawai'i volcanic coastline. A rainbow bisects heavy dark clouds covering half the sky. In the foreground, two people are small figures, giving a sense of scale to the image.

One small stretch of the always stunning Hawai'i coast. #Stunday #EastCoastKin #ECK #photography #Hawai'i

You see an early March morning unfolding as a quiet drama between winter and spring. The sun, still low and hidden behind a layered cloudbank to the left, sends long crepuscular rays fanning through moisture-laden air, each beam made visible by the soft mist that fills the spaces between the trees. The atmosphere is suspended and hushed as only in the first hour after dawn.
The colors span two emotional poles, warm amber and gold blaze in the upper left where sunlight breaks through cloud, while a cool teal-blue sky stretches across the right, calm and receding.
The tall spruce and fir trees rise as dark blue-green silhouettes against that pale sky, their pointed crowns sharp and composed. To the left, a bare deciduous tree holds its grey winter branches, a few rust-brown leaves still clinging on. The mist between the trunks glows silvery-white where the rays strike it, and fades into a dusky jade-green in shadow.
The single most telling detail is the small flowering shrub in the lower right corner, a blackthorn (Prunus spinosa), whose chalk-white blossoms open on bare, dark branches as one of the very first signs of spring, typically from late February into early March. It is a punctuation mark of pure white set against all that grey and mist, quietly announcing that the season has already turned.

view of concrete sidewalk with a metal bars guard railing on the left side and on the right side a guard railing made of grey metal plates, with many different forms of fish shaped cutouts in them, throwing a long dark strip of shadow longitudinally in the middle of the sidewalk, with many bright illuminated by the sunlight fish shaped swarms seemingly going in all directions through the length of the sidewalk

The Blue Tit is a small, energetic, and colourful garden bird, often described as a tiny ball of yellow, blue, and white feathers. It is roughly 12cm long—slightly smaller than a sparrow—and has a very distinctive "masked" face.

Visual Description for Partial Sight
Head: The most defining feature is a bright blue "cap" or crown on top of its head, which looks like a little blue hat.

Face: Below the blue cap, it has a stark white face. This white area is framed by a thin, dark black line that runs through the eye and around the back of the head.

Underparts (Belly): The breast is a bright, sulphur-yellow, making them stand out against green foliage.

Wings and Back: The wings and tail are a contrasting shade of bright blue, while the back is generally a mix of yellow green.

Body Shape: They are very small, plump, and agile, often seen hanging upside down on feeders.

Key Identifiers
Contrast: The high contrast between the bright white cheeks and dark blue crown makes them easy to spot even with limited vision.

Movement: They are very fast-moving "buzzy" birds that rarely stay still.

Size: They are often seen in small groups (flocks) at nut feeders in winter.

Juveniles: Younger birds appear more washed-out and duller, with yellow cheeks instead of white, often appearing around April or May.

Common Sounds
They are noisy birds. Their call is a high-pitched, buzzy "see-see-sedoo" or a fast, rattling call.

Where to Spot Them
They are incredibly common in gardens, urban parks, and woodlands, often visiting bird feeders, especially those with peanuts or sunflower seeds.

Several great blue herons lined up along the edge of a large industrial dock. The heron closest to the viewer is in crisp focus, and the herons behind it get progressively blurrier. Most of them are facing in the same direction as the bird in front, looking out across the dock, which has a few large pipes running along its length. Taken at Ballard Locks.

A photo from today's walk. I sometimes get my ducks in a row, but this is the first time I've managed to get my herons in a row.

Sometimes I finish the book, sometimes I skip ahead to almost the end. I borrow a lot of ebooks through the libraries and the ebooks are easy to return.
I don’t appreciate many books with ghosts and vampires in them. Sometimes I try a book- and it is ok to read or return.
