Whether strangers understand it or hate me for not understanding and not being willing to learn who I am.

Love is what makes the world go round, what makes life worth living, and facing these fears is empowering me out of a depression that would crush my soul by hiding in fear.

Unlike my elders, I’m not fighting for people related to me, this family is found but it’s family nonetheless. And we must survive, we must not be erased, we will be heard, and we will keep existing whether this administration likes it or not.

I’ve been ruminating over whether I should follow in their footsteps to protect myself. But I want to do it differently this time.

I want to fight for my people, even if it costs me everything. I’ve been searching for this community for my whole life and I will cherish and protect my chosen family.

My identity is all I have.

I couldn’t possibly pretend to be someone else if I tried, and I’m not going to try. I only exist because my great grandparents escaped the n@zi’s by fleeing their country and starting from scratch. I will forever be in debt to their sacrifice.

I started my life in survival mode for being different, escaped to safer places with beautiful people like me, and have only just begun living the life of my dreams.

I’m gutted that it’s threatened to be ripped away and one of the only ways I can protect myself would be to erase my own identity.

I would rather die than not get to be myself anymore.

I have spent my entire life listening closely to my intuition, exploring every facet of my humanity, & making peace with the hardest parts of that. In result, I love myself and who I’m becoming & I REFUSE to shrink down into oblivion to survive.
